What I would do is call the branch. Tell them you've been inactive for a while, in a "spitritually weak" state, you haven't been to a Kingdom Hall for years, etc. all the stuff that they would want to hear, that makes you sound like a "wounded sheep".

Then say how intimidated you felt by having 2 elders come in to your work place, harrass you, then refuse to leave. Say you feel so awful and guilty, and stressed, and now you're not sure if you want to go back to the KH, etc.

Make sure you give them the names of the elders who came in.

If you sound convincing enough, and the CO in your area is not a total nutcase, he should come after those elders and read them the riot act. What they did is way beyond what elders are "encouraged" to do.

Lola, I'm so sorry. That would have freaked me out too. I think you did a good thing by leaving and going on a walk. Thank god you boss knew the full story. That is total harassment, and way out of line.

I hope your boss calls your KH elders and really lays into them. Let them know that after that little display of "shepherding" he is utterly disgusted with their overbearing manner.

I wonder if he can let them know that would hold them responsible if you are unable to do your job as before.

I am so sorry you went through that. It sounds like a pure MESS! :-(

Remember they don't have authority over you unless you let them and give them that authority (make you feel like a child). It takes a while for many to take their power back. To stand as an adult in the face of the 'elders' that we have been taught for so long to be submissive to.

You are a grown ass woman ... you have the right to not talk to whomever you so choose not to talk to at whatever time you so choose. Eff them. Their own creed is not to witness to people on the clock at work unless they have received permission from the supervisor.(business territory rules)

So if at all possible be assertive next time. Because if it is your boss protecting you at work they will probably just corner you somewhere else unfortunately ~ until you stand up and show them that you are not one to be eff'd with (you can do that and still fade in most cases.) I did.

It is too bad you are not in a secured building. In the future, your boss may want to post a no tresspassing sign. That sign would apply to everyone who might walk in off the street who is unwelcome at your place of business.

Also, I thought it was the whole Caesar's things to C and god's things to god. You know, give The Man an honest day's wage for pay. What happened to that long standing rule. They just violated it when they kept you from work and your boss was calling out to you.

I am glad you have a wonderful, caring boss. I am sure after that event, HE will never talk to another JW again because of their lack of respect for "workplace".

I would contact a doctor and get the incident "documented". You had an super anxiety attack and I feel so bad for you.

I had the elders come to my workplace, but not for the same reason as you. My ex was going to a different congregation and was asking for reinstatment. Those elders came to my workplace and started asking me PERSONAL questions: I felt ABUSED. Why would they want to stir up my emotions when I was a single MOM supporting a teen ager? I reported them to my local elders and they were PISSED. They said NO elder is ever to come to your place of business.

That was really cheeky for them to come and interrogate you at you place of work, your employer who is hiring you will not be happy if you have to talk with them rather than do your work. Hopefully they will not come back to haunt you.
