This sight is doing something, It is giving people a chance to vent, for one, secondly giving people like me that have no clue about the religion to get answers from those that either are still going or once was.

AD - Just because people are sitting around taking a poke at the WTBTS does not mean that they are sitting in a dark, smoke filled room, dark circles under their eyes, dirt between their names (what nails they do have, for most of them have been bitten to the quick), with week old pizza and three day old coffee, typing away, all the while whimpering and rocking back and forth.

If you look thru past threads you would see that many people here do volunteer and DO SOMETHING. You should give the peeps here a little more credit than that. There are a number of people who never volunteered outside of the JW thing until they left. Now they help on a regular basis with soup kitchens, abuse centers, learning centers, mentoring.

Feel free to lead as an example and set the way for the rest of the "whingers" you obviously feel that you encounter here.

First of all, many people are here for moral support--not to subvert the Watchtower by posting messages on a message board. Some people just have some anger, frustration, or other pent up emotions because they were hurt in one way or another by some people who claimed to love them. Don't get all snappy at them because they aren't out on the streets leading the crusade against the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
Second, if you're going to get on other people's cases about not taking direct action, the least you could do is offer some suggestions as to what can be done. If you've found some methods to help others escape the Organization, by all means share them. But if you don't have any idea what to do yourself don't presume to tell other people that they should be doing. Last time I checked, tearing down a cult of some six million people isn't just something you can just wake up and do (or even start to do) on a Saturday afternoon.

Seems you lot waste all your time and energy moaning about the JW-Org ... what a waste.

    DO SOMETHING.

Gee, thanks for that advice. I'd never thought of that without you posting.

Yanno, some of us do do things to help out society. Some of us try to make life better for others. Some of us give lots of time to charitable organizations. What do you do besides make sweeping generalizations and judgments?

    DO SOMETHING.

How many active JW's come to this board believing that the Governing Body has been directly appointed by Jesus to assist them spiritually, only to discover after a few weeks or months of researching the things they read on this site regarding blood, UN, the bible, etc. that the Governing Body is responsible for broken lives and broken families and broken relationships with Jesus?

Maybe we should take a poll of how many have escaped due to this site and see if this site is actively doing something to help people escape a cult that has stolen Jesus' rightful authority.

If i had invested the thousands of dollars i donated to the $ociety during my lifetime under their bogus fraudulent pretense of never needing it for my retirement.

Yes,if i had invested it in the educations of my younger baby brother and sister and my other family memebers, they could have doctorates and be developing R+D to make the real world a better place for manking and animals.

We all squandered it and had are assets swindled by the $ociety.I demand all my money back now!

AD, think about your conclusion from a statistical perspective & see if it stands up to logic.

This site gets 2400 visitors each day. A fraction of them linger; and a smaller fraction of the lingerers actually post. Those that post spend only a fraction of their day doing so--let's say a total of maybe half an hour, which is a generous estimate.

During that 30 minutes, they do not spend the entire session jw bashing as you suggest. Some of it is socialization--let's say 25% (IMO another generous estimate). Some of it is offering support to people who need it--let's say another 25%. Some of it is for pure interest in the topic matter (me, for example)--let's say maybe another 15%.

That leaves us with a mere 10 minutes of pure jw bashing....and that only applies to posts that specifically bash jws.

What you are seeing is thousands of ppl coming together to briefly discuss horrible personal experiences that trouble them to this day and for which they cannot relate to anyone but ex-jws. Your post makes the assumption that there are people spending their entire lives on JWD making derogatory comments about JWs, and that is just not the case. Your post made the assumption that JWD posters are not channeling their energy into positive pursuits--a gusty assertion to make about complete strangers whose lives you know little about. What evidence do you have to support that belief?

By posting here we ARE doing SOMETHING!! MANY are seeing things for what they truely are!! Personally this site and the ones who post here have been a tremendous support for my family and friends. Wether the posters here realized it or not! Things are posted that help us help our loved ones OUT!! Most here have loved ones still in. And everyday they are in, they are at risk for ending up in a life threatening situation. Because of their lack of knowledge, they may take a stand for a policy that may change at any given time. Then how do we get our loved ones back?? What they decide once they have ALL the facts is up to them. However 99% of witnesses don't know the facts. And so, it is out of love for them and our Creator, we want to help them! Besides being a great place to find data, it is also VERY theraputic to talk with someone who share many of the same feelings and experiences. Many don't have anyone else to lean except the friends they have found here. Just because someone is posting here DOES NOT MEAN that they aren't doing volunteer work or contributing to some other cause. I think it is insulting and presumptuous to make such statements!

    Sincerely,

    Lady Liberty
