I apologise for this being so long, but I know some of you were curious as to what happened following my baptism nullification so as follows, my conversation with my dad. Most of my friends still in have been supporting of my decision and are NOT shunning me.

Let me start this with a little preliminary information. When my dad saw me with my friend who happens to be disfellowshipped we had a discussion. He asked if I told people I was a witness. I lied and said yes. He said it would be better if I told people I wasn’t than to state that I was and do wrong in front of them. So I told him the truth that I just said that to make him happy and I didn’t really tell anyone I was a witness anymore.

Sorry, I cant get this paste to work: CONTINUED

    PRESENT DAY:

As most of you know I spoke to my mom on my birthday last week only to find out that I had been disfellowshipped. It turned out I was not disfellowshipped but in conjunction with my baptism annulment it was announced that I was no longer one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which led her to believe that I was Df’d. After talking to the elder who said I was not disfellowshipped or disassociated and could be spoken to as it would be a conscience decision of those around me, I wrote my parents to tell them the good news. My dad called the elder himself. The elder would tell him nothing thanks to my preacher/Parishioner confidentiality statement. He did however tell my dad to read some pages in the Theocratic Ministry book. Dad then called me and read it to me. It said that someone who disassociates themselves is worse than someone who is disfellowshipped because they know the truth and turn their back on God. I told Dad I wasn’t technically disassociated. He replied with: Did you say in your letter that you do not want to be one of JW’s? I said well yes. You told me it was best for me to say I wasn’t a JW than to claim I was. I didn’t want the elders running around thinking I claim to be a JW that would just be stupid in light of my annulment. Dad said that he did say that but anyone saying they are not a JW is essentially disassociating themselves. I replied with that is what you told me to do. Do you not see your circular reasoning? You say one time I shouldn’t claim to be a witness but when I tell people that I am not a witness you say I am disassociated? That makes NO SENSE!!!

AM I GOING TO HAVE TO POST THIS ONE PARAGRAPH AT A TIME??? I GUESS SO!!

I had mentioned earlier in the day to my mother that 607 was wrong and therefore 1914 was wrong. Dad brought this up and said the bible stated the Jews were in exile for 70 years and by that chronology brings you to 607 because all scholars agree on the 537 date of something. It is in the bible he says. I say show me the date 537 in the bible. He said that Ptolemy is the one who came up with the 587 date and that he did not follow the bibles chronology and all secular dates are based on his and he wrote it 300 years after it happened. So I ask, you think someone who comes up with a date 1900 years after an even is better than someone who did so 300 years after an event? He said they are the same. At this point he says something about Ptolemy being human and made a mistake. I said you are always telling me that the mistakes the Society makes are due to human error. So you are saying that Ptolemy is fallible but the Society isn’t. He says the Society is directed by God and that is why they are correct. This infuriates me. He keeps on with if we aren’t Gods organization who is? Who is doing the preaching work? I reply with the fact that several groups preach not just the JW’s. He goes on with Jehovah has always had ONE organization in the first century he had one and now he has one. I say: what was his organization between the first century and the JW’s? He replies with certain faithful individuals. I say EXACTLY and that is who I believe are his people today. Certain Faithful individuals.

The conversation/argument ended with the fact that they will no longer have any dealings with me aside from Family matters. I got shunned at a Mexican restaurant for the first time by them on Saturday. There was a huge group of us. They couldn’t believe what I was telling them. They were like surely your parents will stop by and say hi. They didn’t and all my friends were shocked!!! They said, sounds like a cult. I just smiled.

    Dear Unique 1,

I can really understand your frustration. Due to years of being indoctrinated into their head, the JWs believe that God always had an organization. What they fail to realize is that Christ did away with all the old ways of doing things. They will point out that there were elders so there had to be organization but in the early church, elder just meant older men there was no central body over the believers.the WT tries to reason that since Paul wrote some letters to the Christians that he helped bring to Christ, in order to adjust them and upbuild them, that he was in fact like the present day governing body.

Christ himself alluded to the fact that the old way of worship would be done away with. When the Samaritan women asked where she should go to worship God, Jesus did not tell her to go to Jeruselum but said that the "time is coming when you will not worship on your forefathers mountain NOR in Jeruselum, but you will worship in spirit and truth". If Jeruselum is where the so-called body of elder men where, than why did not Christ direct her there? What he was saying here, and All the bible scholars will agree is that the day is coming when WHERE you worship is not important.

The Apostle Paul, in Acts expounded on this thought when he told the men in Athens that "God does not dwell in man made temples".

There is no organization on earth today that can claim that they only have Gods blessing. People of real faith in Christ understand that we are the living body of Christ - the Church, it is the people in Christ. We are united together by the Holy Spirit and the Love we have for one another. Sure, the early Christians were loosely organized if you want to call it that because they would meet together for prayer and song and praising God and Christ. But each group was independent and could decide for themselves how they could worship God. There was no such things as organized meetings. The only requirement for them to be called Christians was a basic understanding of Christ, God and the bible. Read the NT and you will see, there were very few things they were under compulsion to agree on.The resurection of Christ is one of the things they had to believe. That is what our faith rests on. But, there were many things that are gray areas left up to the Christians conscience.

All the major religions claim they are the true church and try to prove by their history (which man himself has made up), that this is true. When you learn the REAL TRUTH , none of these organizations has any hold over you. It is man that made Religion so that he could have power over the masses. Christ did not establish a right Religion, he established a FAITH. Any where there is two or more gathered in his name, united by Holy Spirit, he is there with them. It is really that simple. Now, I am not saying you should not join a religious institution if you so wish, but no matter which one you join, you will see that you will have to accept all their doctrines if you really want to be accepted there. I for one enjoy being free in Christ and do not feel I have to be on a roll call of any particular church. I enjoy visiting different ones and learning about their views. But like we always heard at the KH, each one must carry their own load. Good luck to you with your family, Lilly

The concept of an annullment is that whatever it is you are declaring annulled is declared to have never happened. For instance, if you get a marriage annulled, the marriage is declared to have never existed. Basically, legally, there was never a marriage in the first place, so after an annulled marriage, you cannot technically say you were ever married. The same would go for baptism annullment. If the baptism is annulled, then you were never a JW.

Hi unique. ..glad to hear you have made your way out of the org.. but sorry to hear your parents are having a hard time accepting it and are treating you so badly.. As for their circular reasoning.. don't hold that against your parents.. They have been indoctinated so long with circular reasoning from the society.. it is the only way they understand to explain things.. And we all know how JWS are afraid to question anything the GB teaches them.. Maybe with time.. you can get them to see the sense of what you are saying... Hope all goes well with you...

geez, I feel 'bad' for you....sorry that you're being rejected by your family. I thought 'annulled' meant "as if it never happened" - and if that's the case, why can't the cult JWs just consider you as someone who's never been baptised. What a bunch of hypocrites.

There was a huge group of us. They couldn’t believe what I was telling them. They were like surely your parents will stop by and say hi. They didn’t and all my friends were shocked!!! They said, sounds like a cult. I just smiled.

I've never been a dub, but if I would have been there, I would go over to your folks, and would say "I not a JW, and I just can't believe that parents would reject their child .... is this true ... is this what JWs really believe, because if it is, I'm never going to give them the time of day when they're in my neighborhood. I only want to talk to people who share the true Gospel of Christ, which is LOVE and not rejection".

I think non-JWs who are in-the-know need to stand up for their ex-JW friends and let the world know, publicly and loudly the TRUE nature of this pseudo-religion.

Nice, I have used this too.

Since the WBTS is the one saying Jehovah has ALWAYS used an organization, shouldn't they be able to prove it, by telling us who this organization has been?
