Personally I think we are living in the best peroid in all of recorded history and I wouldn't want to live in any other era. Things are imporving all the time and the world is a great place to live and I enjoy everyday of my life.

There have been disasters of serious import in the past - some thought they would lead to the end of the world. WW1, WW2, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Pearl Harbor, Pol Pot, Hitler, Stalin, African Famines, Asian Famines.

Today it is possible bird flu, gas shortages, inflation, deflation, Iran, N Korea, Muslim Extremist, Christian Extremists.

There is always something to worry about, if that is what you want to do.

Tonight when you were posting this I was telling my wife how upbuilding the Christian Music Radio that I listen to was on the way home from a wonderful round of golf. Then we spoke of the wonders of our grandkids, how we were just dust in the wind, and the important things that should occupy our thinking and time while we had the pleasure of life on earth.

So you see - I listened to postive things on the radio - and I came home positive. You saw CNN and got scared. It's all about perspective IMO.

IN regress - the world is a scary place at times. But all we can control is our little portion of it. I think I will leave the big stuff to God. I sleep better that way too.

God's not coming, man. He's not coming soon and he's not coming later. I too note the increasingly surreal quality of global conditions and the peculiar tensions that have arisen in human society as a result of world events - but I think the key is to remember that none of these conditions or events are totally outside of our control. Every day we get closer to the point where we will be sufficiently enlightened, as a species, to put a stop to the madness and produce a truly peaceful, stable, productive global society. God's not going to do it for us, but it's not going to happen tomorrow either. Chill out and do what you can to help - that's my plan.

I like Muadib's attitude. I have no doubt that there will be an oil crisis, and we are already in an oil war. I predict some economic difficulty. But we've all got our part to play. Want to do something special for the world? Get a smaller car, wear more clothes before turning the heaters on, switch to alternative energies like wind and solar, investigate your food sources (like, stop eating tuna...). But don't be worried; what will be will just happen. Just look after yourself. I'm learning to grow my own food and we're building a self-running house. Gotta start somewhere.

In the medieval times...the people probably thought that the Black Plague would bring the end of the world....
