My ex-husband was pathologically tight-fisted.
I once cought him ripping open a dozen individual portions of sugar he had lifted from a cafe and emptying them into our sugarbowl.
The house was always freezing because he wouldn't put the heating on.
Shopping took hours, going to and fro between the cheapest shops to get the lowest price.
I really dreaded us ever getting a water meter - he would got a real thrill from rationing washing and toilet flushing. As it was I used to get nagged about having my bath water too hot.
What a nob.

Toilets don't need to be flushed more than once a day. Most washing can be done at work or school.
