Also, getting fired (unfairly) from an average job. It forced me to improve my skills and not coast and start contracting. I now earn 5x what I did then (~10 years ago). Don't assume that current bad news is always bad news in the long run. It may just be an opportunity.

Isn't that the truth! One realizes that more and more the older you get and you can look over your life's shoulder.

but for now finding my new husband has got to top the list.

How different life and marriage are when you share it with a happy loving tolerant sexy pagan!

After being born, my greatest turn of luck was not finding a suitable JW to marry. I thought I was unlucky at the time, but it gave me the freedom later to make my own life changing decisions.

Someone bought me a small fish tank once. I had no idea how to take care of tropical fish, and I didn't know anyone who kept fish. So I *gasp* disobeyed the Society's warnings about the Internet, and went online for the first time in 2000, to learn how to care for fish.
If it hadn't been for that little fish tank, I wouldn't be where I am today: remarried to a wonderful man, living in England, associating with long-lost DF'd relatives, and freed from the Borg.
