Almost every time we have a visiting speaker the chairman will ask us afterwards if we would like to send our "love" back to the speaker's congregation. Everyone claps loudly.
Has anyone ever heard of that "love" being delivered to the congregation?

Yes, it used to happen in my old kh, though it never sounded that sincere. People used to come back from holiday and bring the love of the cong they had visited, or so they said.
We used to get it sometimes...the love eh? load of clapping to make sure they go deaf.
I recall getting such comments during our Service meeting from the elders in our congregation who traveled. When I became an elder and gave talks out of town, on occassion the congregation I visited would send their "love" back home with me. I delivered it at our Service meeting. But, I also recall that the practice finally died out, at least in our area.

They are mimicking what the CO would do (probably still does) and what they do at the conventions, usually the Bethel speaker takes the love back to Bethel and brings Bethel's love to the convention.
I remember when the CO started giving counsel at the circuit assembly by sitting at a small table to the side on the platform...would you believe that some school overseers started doing the same thing, putting a small table on the platform at the KH to give counsel...they were told to stop doing it.
Monkey see, monkey do.
In this area the "brothers" the CO suggested they stop sending the greetings since it was becoming meaningless, a tradition.

Yes, it happened and I used to do it myself. In terms of holidays, it was just the proof and the good example that even in your vacations you attended the local congregation.
When a servant went on vacation it was expected that he brought the "greetings" back. When there was no announcement you got the impression that they were not very spiritual.
In the late 80's it was HOT to do this. (a la Paris)
We didn't just do it when we went on vacation, our congregation did this with other congregations even if they were only 30 minutes away! ("Auburn East, would you like to send your love to Baldwinsville?" followed by almost thunderous applause.
I think the straw that broke the camel's back in my mind of how stupid this was, one day I heard this one, "Auburn East would you like to send your love to Auburn West?"
We shared Kingdum Halls.

No, I'd like to keep the Lovin all to myself Class
They are still sending their warm love around here. I just don't think it is ever received.
Didn't Arsenio Hall or some other use that phrase when intoducing someone to get everybody to applaud? "Put your hands together and show your love for Actor of the Day!"
I always knew that was one of the B.S. highlights of the day. Had never heard of love being sent back to us.
