This was a major deal in my congregation. Because our congregation was made up of mostly immigrants people would travel back to their own countries for a short vacation and come back to give "love" to our congregation from wherever they went to. After a while it almost became a contest:
"Please receive "love" from congregation X in Puebla Mexico"
"Brother X brings back "love" from congregation Y in Lima Peru"
"Sister so and so would like to send our "love" to the brothers and sisters of congregation Z in Santo Domingo. Would you like to send it?"
I think the straw that broke the camel's back in my mind of how stupid this was, one day I heard this one, "Auburn East would you like to send your love to Auburn West?"That happened to us too! Our congregation was split in two; the second congregation used the same hall; literally, 1 hour after we did on Sunday. How silly it felt to constantly send "love" back and forth between the two congregations!
