The scripture in Prov on new light has nothing to do with doctrine, as can be seen when reading the entire chapter.
There is the principle of the Sacred Secret, which was the revealing of who the Christ was, but this was not new light, just clarification.
At http://jwfacts.com/index_files/light.htm it discusses how this concept is misused.

I agree with the previous poster who mentioned that the scripture in provers HAS NOTHING TO DO with an organization having progressive "spiritual enlightenments". Instead it has to do with a mans life course. In my own personal opinion the way things have been revealed by God are much much differant than how things are revealed by the WTS. It's true that past servents of GOd like Aberham for example had much less knowledge of Gods plan that those who came after him. Each generation(s) brough more revelation by God. Paul mentions that the Jews where trust with the sacred pronouncements of God. As time passed, he continued to reveal more untill his son came and all things where revealed. The WTS on the other hand calls "new light" changing an incorrect doctrine for one at the time being isn't incorrect (but who says its correct). I can't even begin to fathom how the "new light" on the generation doctrine can even be called new light. Lets teach something wrong for decades and once it seems like its not going to be true change it to save our asses. Wow, what new light!

It is a flawed concept. In order to have new light you need old light. This is admitting that what you once held to be a truth was a falsehood. If old light is false it could never have been true.
Example: Old Light-Jesus presence began in 1874
New Light- Jesus presence began in 1914
If Jesus came in 1914 then he did not come in 1874 so 1874 was never light, it was false.(so is 1914)
That is why you don't see new light/old light in the Bible. The Fathers who put together the canon only chose books that were in relative agreement. The writers did not correct each other so as to suggest that what one taught was false.

Good point,
I'm suprised the JW,s haven't started calling "new light" " brighter light".
If only Jehovah would have installed regular switches instead of those darn dimmer switches.
