BIG LIE IN THE BIBLE!

God makes the sun shine and the rain fall on the righteous and the unrighteous!

That's what it says in the Bible, (paraphrased to more or less). Matthew 5 :45

So, that being the case, why does he not make it rain in drought stricken areas?

It's more or less saying that God gives the basic necessities of life to ALL of his children. But that is absolutely NOT the case!

Well, I guess he brings drought to the righteous and the unrighteous also...

That's right. God does not give to all of mankind what it needs to survive and live happily. Remeber after Adam and Eve sinned, he told them that their lives and the lives of all their decendants would be miserable.

its saying to love your enemies like god does since he gives rain and sun to both equally

    Dear Gill,

The bible you refer to is incomplete. Noah got pissed and dropped several scrolls overboard during the flood then Moses had a few blow away in the desert (that's why he started using blocks of stone) and Abraham singed a few pages in that burning bush..there were many mishaps over the years and that's why the bible we have today doesn't mention any of the Australian animals that hoped onto the ark or that in the last days there will be devastating bushfires, plagues of rabbits and swarms of tourists ..

Wrong. You simply misunderstand the meaning of the scriptures. This statement is in reference to God's fundamental fairness and love towards all, with the admonition that we should love our enemies, indeed have love for everyone.

Further, you misunderstand the scripture to be some literal indication of rainfall patterns & climate when it is simply a metaphorical reference to God's righteousness.

Good idea, oroborus. One's brain would tell one that the water cycle, together w drought and forestation all run randomly, affected by various forces such as the sun, ocean currents, the levels of various gases and particulates in the air, etc. Nowhere is there any evidence of your god affecting the weather. Understanding of nature has progressed tremendously since the writing of the bible by ignorant, supersticious fishermen/tax collectors.

Eduardo - No! It definitely says that God treats EVERYONE fairly and the same. Fact - He doesn't!!!

    Satanus - Absolutely, totally right!!

Unclebruce - God did not treat Kangaroos fairly if he didn't allow them onto the ark!!! Must account for their being really good swimmers!

either way, as oroborus said, it is simply a metaphorical reference to God's righteousness, thats the point being made by the verse, not that god actually actively switches on the rain and sun
