Dear Blondie,
Thank you!
SIncerely,

Yes, thankyou Blondie. I could not see through this manipulation by myself. It absolutely sickens me how I got trapped. My parents were so mad about it in 1972 but were powerless to stop me from joining.
Today I kept getting a sickening knot in my stomach and could not study the whole article. But normally I can. Thankyou so much Blondie for keeping us informed.
Well, at least the baptism vows are clearly published now, so the candidates can see in advance what they have to say "yes" to. Until recently it was not known to most of the. I have had disputes with family dubs as to what the vows were. That was not right.
Severus is correct in saying this
Now there are about 15-20 at conventions and 3-10 at assemblies with maybe one adult in the group, all else teens or preteens.
My own observation too. And they had the nerve to say at the last Assembly that Jehovah was now "speeding up the work" because so many are being baptized.
To me there seemed a contradiction between the thoughts of para 13/14 and 17 re. the 2nd question
"When a person becomes a Jehovah's Witness he assumes the responsibility to witness"
"The responsibility to work with Jehovah's spirit directed organization"
P17
We dedicate ourself, not to a cause or a work, but to Jehovah God himself"
Now ask a dub, "Is it possible to remain true to your dedication if you abandon the cause or the work of the Watchtower Society?" - Of course not! . The two go together, and to leave the Society is often described as "Turning your back on Jehovah God". The statement in p17 is not borne out in practice , it is window dressing for the fact that "The Society" owns the heart and soul of a dedicated JW.
The dedication is to the cause of the WTBTS, to promote its interests, to work for free, to allow that Society to shape your opinions, mold your beliefs, even demand your life on an operating theatre table, should that be necessary. You will have to deride the sincere Christian people met in ones "ministry" who also claim a personal dedication to God.
Lets hope the younger ones can see through the smokescreen and avoid the mistakes that we made
Blondie
a sincere Thank you,
once again for the hard work,
putting this together for all of us.
Yah I don't think the kids are mature enough to realize they are dedicating their lives to a book publishing corporation . I remember the same time they turned me down they announced some 12 year was getting the dunk . I was like , are you friggen kidding me ? It was the same kid I walked in on masturbating in the mens toilet . Kids are not mature enough to make those kind of decisions . I do feel for them because I think they are pressured into it . How are they going to stand up and say anything other than what they are told to say by coercion? I'm also of the opinion that women are not supposed to be baptized even tho there is one instance where the apostle Paul did in Acts of apostles but I think things did change as some things did throughout the new testament . The apostle Paul was a very opinionated man . Let's face it , they did not have swim suits in the first century and I don't think any man would want his wife being naked around another man for any friggen reason . Unless they were pagans or like the africans where everybody runs around naked ,,,,,,,,,,, but I digress
Thanks Blondie, it's a well-known fact among Bethelites of long standing that the 1985 change in the second question to baptismal candidates was dictated by the Society's Legal Department, who, in the aftermath of the Franz/Dunlop/Sanchez debacle, sought legal protection from any disfellowshipped person who protests that his/her baptism was to God alone and NOT to any human organization. Another example of how money or the fear of its loss (i.e. demonstrated in this case by the fear of potential adverse judgements from lawsuits) dictates most, if not all of the Society's policy decisions.
Sadly, it looks lIke the lawyers, not the Holy Spirit, are calling the shots in Brooklyn/Patterson these days; the latter has been downgraded from a major player to an adjective in the current baptismal vows.
Made only once--no rebaptisms allowed
When I was baptized there was an old guy (forgot his name) who was getting baptized again. I never got an answer as to why. Anyone ever heard of this happening or know of a reason that someone would get baptized twice? I wish I could remember his name.
riverofdeceit--- They don't accept the baptism from other religions as being authentic . Jeeze other religions actually baptize in the name of father son and holy spirit where as they throw in all that obedience to a publishing corporation . Another thing that puzzles me is why don't the women baptize each other ? with all this crap of women being in the holy remnant and sharing the burden of the religion but yet cannot baptize each other .
No, I know that. He was already a "brother". Already a baptized dub, and he got baptized again.
