I just remembered why this date sounds familiar to me, May 8

I thought you were going to talk about the V day of 1945 when Germany surrenered and the second world war ended in Europe. But you did get baptised too young, I suppose that sort of baptism has no validity.

Well, come to think of it, I was an "oldie" when I was baptised two years after you, Mulan. It was 1957, and I was all of 15 years old.

Oddly enough, I can remember so many things about my baptism, but not the damn date!! I know it was February, because it was winter. The place was a city called Ahmedabad, in India, and the guy who did the dunking was a WTS missionary called Victor Hongal. I was one of three on that day, and it happened on the banks of a river. And it was a circuit assy.

But the date??? Nope. Can't remember. Do I look as if I care?

    Cheers

    Victor Hongal?

    *** yb77 pp. 119-120 India ***

In 1968 at a district assembly at Bangalore,

Inspector Dennis informed Brother Hongal, the assembly overseer, that the main things he had to report were whether any conversions took place at the assembly, whether any particular community or religion had been criticized and whether politics had been discussed. On the final day, Hongal asked the inspector what opinion he had formed. Dennis replied that he had been impressed by the things that he had seen and heard, the smooth running of all the departments and the willing cooperation of the brothers.

Then, in a disarming manner, Brother Hongal asked Dennis what kind of report he intended making. The inspector answered: "I am in a quandary about that. The report is to be sent to the minister of the ruling party, so that if any opposition members raise the subject of the assembly of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the State Assembly, the minister may be able to give them specific information regarding the assembly. However, if I put in my report that all the speakers kept saying, ‘Turn to Revelation, or Mark, or Psalms,’ neither the minister nor the opposition members will be able to fathom what the report is all about. So, I will keep my report simple and brief and merely state that nothing objectionable was indulged in."

Well - Hotdamn!! Victor made it into the YB. Can't remember the date though, 77?

    Bloody nice bloke, actually.

Wonder what ever happened to the old coot. He'd be in his 80s by now.

    Cheers

That is a long time ago and you were so young. How can someone so young make a decision like that? I was at the meeting unwillingly with my parents today and 10 years ago, my dad was baptized, just thinking about that is sort of freaky.

I was newly 12 myself when i was coerced into taking the plunge..Wow,.at 9,ill bet that your folks got alot of positive strokes for raising such a faithful child!!!!..There was like a competition going on in the hall when I was a kid.The youngest baptism and the most stuff sold and hours and all that...Its too damned young to be making a life decision like that, but since armageddon was 'just around the corner',you can kinda see where they were coming from..lol...

9 years old? I have known 12 year olds getting dunked but don't recall anyone that young.

Maybe someone told them that no unbaptised flesh will go through armageddon (something I've heard said from the platform a few times) and wanted to safeguard your future?
