I think the fact that the phrase "fireside chat" was used at all shows the mindset of these people, which is stuck in the 1940's way of thinking.

Is this serious? You mean they have to be told how to say something on the order of 'please turn to John 1:1' without trying to sound like teenagers? Why don't they want copies made of the District Convention Manual? (sorry, it's 68 pg's and I didn't look it over yet)

I like that line about "anyone heard using improper language is to be taken aside and lovingly counselled." That might happen , but I doubt it will be loving.
i was very surprised when i learned that the speakers at district conventions were graded on their performance like little school girls at a third grade recital...and yet when they speak to us it is as the voice of god. what a joke.
