Whatever Judah Ben S. is doing as far as education - good for him that he's making his own choices. I hope he continues to do that.

The problem lies with the organization putting the pressure on its members either by direct or indirect methods (orally or written) to influence their decision making. And then to top it off, equate the individual's decision with their personal standing w/God questioning that person's faith. They have set themselves up as a pseudo God - which they would quickly deny.

Their smug and haughty attitude is unforgiveable. They have NO BUSINESS sitting in any judgment seat. God has moral standards that we should follow for our own good and that is our choice. He is our Judge. Any organization that puts themself next to God and twists arms of their followers are reproachable and I feel in line for Divine judgment.

I think it's safe to say that Judah Ben is well into his 40s.
There are no Governing Body members younger than that. The only GB members I know of in any recent decades that had some college education were Fred Franz and Al Schroeder, JB's dad. Whoever said that a young Bethelte was allowed to get a college degree and was then appointed to the GB didn't know what they were talking about - a not unusual thing for rank and file JWs!

Wow, you guys have really been following JBS's career huh? I wonder if he knows he's being watched by so many exJWs! I'm glad you helped answer my second question, Seeker. And yes, it did cross my mind that my friend was spouting off something that she hadn't confirmed or that was untrue altogether. But I couldn't say anything at that moment cos she was the Bethelite and I was the one who opted for higher education with no links to Bethel whatsoever. We both had to assume she was in the know.

Valkyrie said: Why not write to him [JBS] and ask him yourself?

Hey Valkyrie, see my alias? I'M the Inquisitor! I'm running this interrogation around here. You will sit there and smile and tell me what I wanna know!

    Just messing with ya! heheh

No need to do the asking myself since JBS's age seems to be common knowledge on JWD.

Ok......so, he's not FINISHING law school but he intends to at a later time? So?? What's the big deal that I'm missing?? He's still at the university doing something another JW would get into trouble for.

What can I say Seeker? I'd been following the threads like everybody else and based my suggestion on the information presented therein. Thanks for the correction!

I am with Minimus here ... this matters to me how? R&F can use this info how?

My mother is in her later years (I am sure she would love to hear me say that) and she is in school now getting her graduate degree. Granted she is not, nor has she ever been, the typical JW, but she is getting more like a follower with every passing year. I cannot imagine higher ed is really that frowned upon because she is doing it and so are some of her other friends and from what I understand it is not a big deal.

A four-year university education will give you an "elitist job"???!!! ROFL!!!!!!!!!

Shows how much they really know about it, eh? That education may give you an entry level job in an "elite" field (or not), but whether you reach "elite" status within that field depends on your native talent, but much more importantly, on hard work. It's that last bit that the Tower don't like, of course. Hard work is a waste of time that should be devoted to their cause, as far as they're concerned.

    Min, Forscher, looking_glass;

Simply posted the info because I was asked to, and to get an accurate story out there. I agree with the person who sent me the information that I like clearing up any inaccuracies on this site. We get enough crap about being "apostate liars."

Yes, JBS is not in law school, he's finishing his 4-year degree. Yes, it seems he intends on going to law school, though we're not sure of where

This matters to you, how?? Likely not at all. Some folks are interested, most could care less. Just want to get the correct story out there.

Judah Ben is in his LATE 40's -- he was just slightly younger than me (I remember the fluttering hearts of single sisters everywhere at the thought of such a Good Catch already at Bethel! And no, I wasn't one of them.) and I'm 50 now.

I just find his choice of career, so late in his life, very intriguing. I've been working for law firms for 30 years now but it doesn't interest me in the least to start a law career at this stage of my life. Think of it: 4 years of college, 3 years of law school and THEN you get to start at a law firm as a lowly associate working 80 hour weeks for several years to learn your trade, impress the partners and move up the legal ladder. Assuming, of course, any reputable law firm will take on such an old associate -- they like them young and healthy so they can stand all-nighters without ending up in the ER.

So why is he doing this NOW?

My theory is that the Society is worried about what is going to happen to the organization when the old guys die off (which they're doing rapidly). The Society is also worried about the growing number of lawsuits aimed at chipping away the sacred Separation of Church and State protections afforded to religion. So do they need more pioneers or spiritual minded brothers to run the asylum? NO -- THEY NEED LAWYERS. And here's one they have literally raised in the bosom of the old guys. IMO, they're grooming him to take over and protect their assets.
