I think it comes from this: Watchtower 6/15/1983
The quote, according to MS Word, has a Flesch-Kincade Grade level 9.2. Doesn't sound like college to me.

I remember hearing this and it burning my ass... Please.
It was in the written review in February I think (last time I was at a Thurs night meeting) and the sister that commented on it said "reading... more good than a college education" (I think she meant "better", but I could be wrong, afterall, she has a more gooder edukashun than me)

Does anyone have a copy of Leonard Chretian's book, "Witnesses of Jehovah"?
I think it contains a reference to a specific article where it was specifically stated that reading the Awake was the same as receiving a college education.
I would check, but my copy is in a box somewhere.

I'm thinking maybe, if it was in the review in Feb, then it was brought out in the TMS part in the 6 weeks preceding -- so, a WT in that time? Or, the BE book? I'm at work right now, but I'll check when I get home... I'm curious about this. Education is a huge 'thing' for me.

An elder once told me that the Theocratic Minstration School would give a publisher the equivalent of a college education within a few years.

Oh. My. God. I had totally forgotten about these. Did they play music in the background during these? Or am I just making up a memory?
Now boys and girls get out your number two pencils, it's time for the JW POP QUIZ!!!!!!
MissBehave: I had also forgotten about the written review until Merfi brought it up in her post. I vaguely recall that there was music played in the background. Wait...let me clarify...not really music but kingdumb melodies. I usually flunked the written review -- I seem to remember there were a couple of questions for kids??? I got those wrong, too! I'm such a theocratic dumba**.
I remember written reviews going back to at least 1980, and there was never music played in the background at any of them.
BTW they don't do them anymore either--they are now called Oral Reviews--it's just the usual Q&A session only as a review of the few months of TMS&SM sessions. As I cleverly commented to my wife when I heard the new name--at least it's better than an Anal Review.

Yeah, Did we self grade those and take them home? or were they handed over after we graded them?
Now that I'm remembering them I think we just took them home. I also recall that I actually looked forward to those nights because we didn't have to listen to anyone drone on for hours.
