Scotsman has put forward a lot of arguments and it will be good to offer the counterarguments, of course the WTS he stands for does not allow such free debate but we should be glad not to imitate them.

To begin with I say that the 1914 end of times date wasn't produced by Russell but Barbour his adventist teacher and it proved to be wrong because they awaited armageddon on that date. Christ beagn invisibly ruling in the 1870's another adventist nonsense that Russell swallowed whole.

The 144 000 are not a literal number as they are found in a clearly symbolic context.

Where else to go to? That question is asked by members of all high control groups, any Mormon will ask the same question. Anyone that has read the bible knows without preconceived cultish ideas knows that is the wrong question, Peter said "Whom else would he go to?' The answer is Jesus, or at least any religion that promotes Jesus as its' leader rather than human middlemen.

Don't kid yourself, folks. Scotsman is a hit and run poster that would rather not argue for his topics, but he would rather tell us we're evil for being critical towards his ideas and tell us we're not going to be ressur-erected, and all sorts of fear tactics that only work on the intellectually weak.

If he really believed in what he spouted, he would stick around and listen to the alternative theories. But then again, he's a dub. Dubs are told not to debate.

If you believe in the 'faithful and discreet slave' then I believe in Santa Clause the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy. Why don't you find out what the very first 'slave' Charles Taze Russel taught. And then tell me that they are right. The light doesn't get brighter....its just new prophecy and teachings to cover up the stuff that didn't happen! If Russel taught anything today that he used to teach he would be disfellowshipped. In fact if we kept to the old light and still believed it we would be disfellowshipped. Yet that food was from God. Does that make any sense to you??
