Hi Luna! (((((Waving like crazy!!!)))))) Morning. A very single morning!
When I realized I couldn't be married to my ex anymore, I opened a "secret" bank account and deposited money into it for a little over a year to help with my new life. I knew he was going to take everything away from me, so I planned my escape very carefully, even rented an apartment in a different town 2 months before I left. Glad I did that though, cause true to his threats, he took all the money (he thought) so I wouldn't make it on my own. But, by the time I moved out, I had saved over 6 thousand dollars!!! I made it and am doing great. I highly recommend it to anyone trying to escape a bad marriage.
Hola! ::Waves to Sparky:: And a very Good Morning back at ya!
Very, very smart snarf...very smart!
Luna, Well, I went to a hotel and there was a hotel worker telling me not to come back to the hotel property, but he was talking way too fast, I did not understand him. He did not like me. They had a telecommunications device for the deaf at the hotel lobby and thats why I frequent there. When I was flipping the yellow pages at the phone booth, the detective and the hotel worker suddenly show up at the phone booth. I was arrested almost immediately. I told them that I did not get any warning at all, but the hotel worker said he did warn me, but I did not understand him anyway. I stayed at Jail overnight, I was released by a judge in the courtroom without any appearance. I did not bother to sue them or anything like that. I am not the revengeful type person. If I tell the congregation there, they will probably ask me 20 questions, so I am not interested to tell them at all.
I stole a magazine from the dentist office...shhhhhh...don't tell anyone!

*Brigid files in "infor for emergencies"* Actually, I've just started doing something like this. I would be in SUCH trouble if he knew--and he knows everything, it seems. But my ever-growing skills could help me embezzle a small fortune from a large corporation I have no unauthorized access to credit cards, checkbook or my own earnings (odd because I generally earn more than he does). I have learned how to launder money lately like no one's business. LOL!! I know all the places where I can write the check for "over" and how much. Dissolve #'s on receipts (all receipts have to be saved for possible review) Can I pm you for suggestions because I am terrified about taking my cash stash and opening an account. So afraid he'll find out. that would be very bad.
To the wives planning your escape . . . . . .
Wow! I am so sorry you have to endure such a hardship, I can't imagine being in such a bad situation that I couldn't leave. I am so impressed by your bravery and intellegence in getting things set up before you leave. Leaving anyone is the pits - so smart to watch your back! A lady in a similar situation told me another thing she used to do for extra cash (her husband always looked at all reciepts too) was to purchase things and then take them back - even at the grocery store. She would by stuff like certian expensive spices and tooth whitener and then take them back for the $$$$$. She also used to skim on tips - say oh I left 20% tip and then only leave 10%. It took her a while but she needed to be safe - her husband was very abusive. She opeaned a safe deposit box to keep the cash - much harder for him to come accross then a bank account. She also kept a journal of his abuse in the box - so when she fineally left she made her first stop at the bank and her second at the police station where she gave them a copy of her journal so she could get a restraining order. He didn't even know she was gone until he got home and there was no dinner. :) Bastard! I'd of shot him. :)

Brilliant, niken8er! Safe deposit box would make it impossible to trace if I used my business address(?) I would like to clarify that my physical safety is never in danger. It is just his nature. He is mirroring learned behavior. His father did this with his mother. It is a method of control. When his mom died in November, the children opened her safe deposit box and found thousands dollars stashed away. That, among other things was a huge wakeup call for me--I told myself then and there, I would not wind up like her.
