No, never - to my detriment, I think - I can't even do the social lies that are necessary at work to make everyone think you are fantastic and amazing. Way too honest for my own good

I guess i do sometimes. But it really is easier to rember what you said, if you told the truth lol

JH, my parents are pretty bad about that as well. The worse thing about it is that my sister and I have had to adjust our personalities to divest ourselves of that particular lesson from them.
I am very honest these days, sometime to my detriment. However, there is much power in the truth.
My sister had less of a problem with lying to others as she has had with lying to herself, constantly.
The fruit doesn't fall very far from the tree. The tree, in my parents' case, I'm sure, is the WBTS.

as I am not sure that everything I know is not my own minds invention [dreams]... If it is only a dream, then I would only be lying to myself and if its more than a dream I would still be lying to my representations of others which is still me and they would know I lied to them...
so I never lie unless its absolutely convenient.

I can kind of sympathise with your parents on this one though. When I was in hospital I specifically said I did not want any visitors. And what happens? The neighbours I specifically asked not to visit, turned up. I was medicated up to the eyeballs, in agony, looked dreadful, smelled of puke having thrown up in my oxygen mask when roused from the general anasthetic and the last thing I wanted to do was be the entertainment.
next time I will lie about when I go into hospital and when I am coming out.
