    • Simple ear wax can cause deafness
    • 75% of the thirty-seven million blindness cases worldwide can be easily treated

Intelligent people who go out of their way to assist others can make a positive difference, and stories are told about such people.

Sad emo: I fear that you may be taking a too literalistic view of the title of this weekly thread. Maybe a more liberal view is in order?

I was reading a miracle story from the Koran the other day. As the Koran is an ancient religious text that is viewed by millions upon millions of sincere Muslims the world over, as God's infallible word, should I view this miracle story in the Koran as historically true, or as mythical?

Lovelylil: Please know that I mean NO disrespect to Bible-believing Christians in making these weekly posts. I don't mean to make them look stupid or to tear them down. I'm making these weekly posts in the ( slim ) hope that I may, 'sow a seed' in the mind of some JW 'lurkers', which may eventually lead to their viewing the Bible as the work of man, rather than their viewing it as the infallible 'word of God'. I sincerely wish that someone had done the same thing for me years ago.

Just as you share your view of the Bible with people in the belief that doing so is in their best interests, so do I. Just as your doing so is done with no intention of making them look stupid or tear them down, neither is mine. I certainly WOULD NOT tell you to 'mind your own business' if you were to try to disprove the claims of atheists. On the contrary, I would welcome it.

It may come as some comfort to you to know that when I have exhausted the 'iffy' texts from the New Testamant, I have no intention of starting on the even, 'iffier' texts from the Old Testament. If I were to do so, I suspect that the, 'Son of man would have come in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory' ( Matthew 24:30b ), before I ever completed the task.

Why only those two options ?

And Lovelylil, I quite enjoy seeing scout write what's on his mind

is that it ? I'm wondering if you're just trolling

A Paduan: Either the miracle story in the Koran happened or it didn't happen. Why should I believe that the above gospel 'miracles' happened any more than I should believe that the Koranic 'miracle' happened?

I'm not sure lovelylil just what you are objecting to. The mere fact that someone is analyzing the book or what is concluded. Do you resent those whose posts make you feel stupid for continuing in your beliefs? Boy that sounds familiar. Whenever we try to reason with JWs don't they too resent us for exposing their beliefs to scrutiny? Don't they also feel singled out and call it persecution?

    Scout,

Was it a particular miracle in the Quran you've looked at - the Surah of 'the elephant' maybe? Or was it a more comparable miracle?

Personally, I don't see why you should believe any more or any less in either. It depends on whether you are going to take them purely and solely on literal content, or whether you accept that they contain truth also. Many myths contain truth as do many of the religious writings. For me, the Bible contains the truth, this is how God has chosen to reveal His truth to me. It may be that He chooses to reveal His truth to someone else through the Quran or the Bhagavad Gita (?sp) or other writings. I'm cool with that if God is! .
