I didn't notice this very much. However, i find that when there are activities that fall regularly on tuesday or thursday nights, after a few of them, i don't want to go, anymore. They remind me of the wt daze.

When I stopped going, I felt like a cage animal that had been released....the meetings were soooooooooooo boring. The elders were rarely prepared, and the rank and file had obviously not prepared either. The elders could count on 2 sisters to raise their hands.

It is so great not to have to rush home to make dinner and jump into "meeting" clothes.

I found the meetings boring too, and frequently dozed off only to be rudely awakened by an elbow in my ribs. I'm one of the rank and file who rarely prepared too. I deliberately stopped reading and preparing once I discovered the literature made me angry; it made me feel that way because the people in the hall were so different from how they were portrayed in the literature.

I also hated rushing home. At one job I got off work at 6 PM, and usually got home shortly after 7 PM. My ex would make me a sandwich while I showered and put my suit on - my tie already had a knot in it and most of the buttons on my shirt were done up and I'd just pull it over my head. I'd swallow the sandwich while driving to the hall. Then an elder would corner me and counsel me about my 5 o'clock shadow. Maybe I should have skipped the shower and shaved instead. Then all the brothers™ would have been subjected to my stench, which would at least have been entertaining for me.

Meeting withdrawl? Like Blondie, I felt like a caged animal finally set free. I no longer have to eat like I'm training for the olympics. I can enjoy my shower after work. I can watch TV, play with my bird, and read something that will, unlike watchtower literature, teach me something.

Meeting withdrawal? I used to feel like I was supposed to be getting ready for about the first couple of months. Did I miss rushing into a hot dress and hose on a beautiful summer evening? HAHAHA! Feel like reading the paper on the patio? Do it!

Feel like an ice cold beer after work? Do it!

Feel like going to the Mall, or watching TV? Do it!

Nope, no withdrawal, just an exhilarating sense of freedom and enjoyment of life!

    No way!

I was glad it was finally over! I had stopped going for a long time, except when I was visiting relatives, and even then I managed not to go most of the time. What were they going to do, force a grown person to get all dressed up to go with them?

I usually had to listen to a lot of BS afterwords. "Oh too bad you missed it! It was a thrilling meeting. Brother so-and-so from congregation such-and-such gave the talk and he said that Armageddon was coming real soon. And the Watchtower study was so deep. It really shows we are in the last days."

I knew it was BS by then. 1975 was 15 years in the past. The King of the North tore down the Berlin Wall. I just wasn't ready to give up my family. Eventually I didn't even bother to pack my meeting clothes or books at all when I went to visit them.

I have! However, it's taken about 2 years to adjust. Now I'm more happier now than when I can remember, out of the mind-controlling cult, and making a better life for myself! It does take time I'm learning, and I"m still in the process of making new friends and family (since my own family won't have anything to do with me because I no longer love mommy WT). Thanks for asking, and wish you the best!

For a long time there was a lingering thing, worrying me into rushing home to get ready. When I realised it was for nothing, there was a little 'WOOHOO' moment three times a week. I love it.

Man with my schedule now, I can't even imagine finding the every week to lose those hours. How do any of them get anything done?

Withdrawl --- YES; But I felt free. I could breathe and shower and walk my dogs. I felt that a tight belt constricting my chest was released. Like when the incredible Hulk would turn into well the Inredible Hulk. ;-)
