Read that little story somewhere, doesnt prove anything but thought I'd share.

Laws against killing, rape, and stealing arent absolute. they are definatly not inherent in every one of us or else they wouldn't be such popular pastimes.

They are however a groups best defense against individuals seeking advantage at the cost of other individuals. An individual who steals form others isnt producing new goods he is merely transferring from others to himself, not good for the group as a whole so it is discouraged. An individual who kills others for his own advantage is also weakening the group, unless it advantages the group then it may be condoned. And rape, amongst other things, attempts to take away the womens right to select the father of her children (and women generally choose the strongest or healthiest or wisest or best singers) which right is for the benefit of the group.

A group has the rights to make laws, and these laws are generally simlar over the past few thousand years cause humans basically havent changed much, just their tools have. but these laws arent absolute. e.g. is incest absolutely bad?? but in some cultures it was encouraged in royal bloodlines to maintain purity.

edited to add: The 10 commandments only applied within the group, and protected the group. It wasnt in the groups interest for them to apply outside the group as they wanted to kill their neighbours and take their land so this was not outlawed, or seen as immoral.

A brief example of why 'truth' and 'morals' are relative - even as between two modern societies regarded as prosperous, developed, western cultures.

In some parts of the US, marriage for females is legal at 14, and giving her 'her marital due' is presumably not only condoned but encouraged.

In the UK, the age of consent is 16, and anyone giving a 'due' to a 14 year old would be classed as a paedophile, liable to be arrested and imprisoned and put on the 'sex offenders' register.

As my dad used to say "all is relative, and most of it's marginal".

1) God created us, when it comes to judgement that is to His divine providence. To slur the one who sets our days and the way we ALL die is a contadiction in logic. You are attempting to compare apples to not only other fruit but to the whole world. The two situations are not in the same boxing ring, much less the same arena!
2) Christians are not in agreement over the literal acceptance of the histories of the Old Testament. For example, some view those histories as Jewish apologetics for their own actions.
3) None of this gets anywhere close to the point I was making and I think you know that. This is the typical answer that you seem to have as I believe you actively hate Christianity by ANY definition.

You know, the ones NOT expressed in the creed of the church you say you belong to....your opinions fit into the Universalist mold, where there are great, Bible believers like Rev. Really, then why is it 'moral' to abort a premature baby of say, 3 months, 6 months or almost due and partially birth him/her as you kill it? If that is 'moral' then what about just dumping them in the trash can, after all it is a woman's right now to kill any life within her if she so chooses?
Why is it 'immoral' to execute a murderer but not 'immoral' to abort a baby?
