When you were a JW true believer, what were you most afraid of?

Don't remember being scared about anything. I felt pressure from the cult to always do more until I finally just quit, wanted to just enjoy life for awhile. This was in 1974 and I felt that one year of a free life before 1975 would be worth leaving it all behind.

Gossipy women (and men) at the KH who could shred a reputation without breaking their stride; what they didn't know they would make up. If they were called on it; they would say that you gossiped too (without any examples). I never worried about what God thought of me; I just worried what some "loving" brothers and sisters could do to my daily life in the Borg.
