The July 1st Watchtower is one that I'm sorely tempted to kick into oblivion....yes it irritated me greatly.....mind control at its bluntest!

Young JWs are being encouraged to stop dilly dallying around and get dunked!!!!

'....why would you put off getting baptized?

Could it be that you hesitate to take this important step for fear of being held accountable should you fall into wrong conduct? If so, think of this: Would you refuse to apply for a driver's license simply because you were afraid that some day you might have an accident? Of course not! Neither should you hesitate to get baptized if you qualify. Indeed, you will be strongly motivated to do your utmost to resist wrongdoing if you have dedicated your life to Jehovah and have agreed to do his will. Young ones, please do not imagine that by postponing baptism, you avoid accountability. When you have reached the age of responisbility, you are answerable to Jehovah for the way you act whether you are baptized or not. - Romans 14:11,12'

Whether a Jw youngster choses to get baptised or not is a matter that is out of their hands. Damned if they do and damned if they don't!!!!

Mind control with a sledge hammer!

Could it be that young JWs are finally learning to avoid getting baptised in the first place, and do the fade.......?

    No where you're coming from.
I've known unbaptised kids of elders go off the rails but not much can be done because they have not been baptised. On the other hand seen baptised youngster kicked out of homes for the very same 'crimes'. It never struck me as fair even when I was in.

It's worked for several people in my own family and a friend I had as a teenager.

All of them avoided getting baptized, got to live the kind of lives they wanted, without having to be shunned by JW relatives.

I also forgot to add this paragraph:

'You young people are free to determine for yourselves where that people (a people for his name) is to be found. Who today make up 'the erighteous nation that is keeping faithful conduct", living in harmony with the Bible principles, acting as faithful Witnesses for Jehovah and proclaiming his Kingdom as the only hope for humanity? Look at the churches of Christendom and other religions, and compare their conduct with what the Bible requires of the true servants of God,' ARROGANT ATTITUDE OR WHAT?!

Then for the final sting in the tail:

'We truly hope and pray that you young ones will decide to take your place among God's chosen people and thus 'chose life' - life everlasting in Jehovah's new world.'

There it is - Get baptised or YOU WILL DIE!

So why get baptized at all? You are accountable when you reach the age of responsibilty, if you're baptized or not.

Sorry loosie, I had not included the rest of the article in that first part. The answer to that is if you don't get baptised you're going to die. You 'chose life' only if you get baptised.

A "cultish" scare tactic. I've heard this same reasoning over and over and over again. It's for numbers. So the reports look good.

The article forgot to mention that the Watchtower lawyers have rewritten the baptism vows so that you are joining legally their organization.

Their organization which is man-made and only claims to be God's organization.

Worship of The Watchtower is idolatry, as The Watchtower is a False God!

You are indeed correct, that article is full of arrogance.

So let me see if I can translate this to normal speak.

If you are past the age of accountablility and you are not baptized but you love God and aren't immoral, you are gonna die because you didn't go underwater in a big pool.

    Wow that's harsh.
