Nark, a "don't ask, don't tell" policy is probably the best it's gonna get for the WTS, ever. If only they'd apply that policy to everything else they're straining the camel on, it wouldn't be such a bad religion.

This is the first Watchtower article I have read since parting company with them twelve years ago:

I am also reminded of why much of my life has been so #%cked up - reading this sort of BS from age 11 up until to my late thirties (as another poster on this thread has stated: such stuff should not be available for public consumption - it definitely should not be accessible to children).
On another matter, it is a bit rich the way the Watchtower quotes Greek words - when in all likelihood the writer has had no schooling in Biblical (Common) Greek. It sounds like they turn to a Greek / English dictionary, and think that this makes them "experts" on the matter.

It says that persons will be "disfellowshipped". I thought they didn't "disfellowship" anybody anymore, just announce they "are no longer Jehovah's witnesses"; why didn't they use the latter phrase in the article?

I Also believe it's an addition to their hundreds of rules they enforce. For instance, I know of a couple brothers that had visited strip clubs and later fessed up to the elders. The elders simply stated that they don't recommend or condone such behavior, however no judicial committee will be formed regarding a persons choice of entertainment. The elders stated the obvious that the brothers that are known for choosing such types of entertainment won't be considered for any type of 'priviledge' either. I guess things are different now. This was back in the late nineties when I still attended regularly. Since then, if things have changed, this is the first I've seen it in writing. Or maybe they needed to spank the monkey while watching the strippers in order for it to be a df'ing offense. Who knows?!!! I can't keep up the pharisee's rules!
