I talked to one on the phone recently. He lives in So Carolina. He was sent home before this recent exodus because of dental problems. They told him that when he got his medical problems resolved he could reapply (that was before this latest shutdown news). He subsequently fell away but is still convinced he left the truth. Sad.
The time? 1955

Are you one of these ex-Bethelites?
I would assume so, since he uses "Lets' eagerly" in a sentence. Maybe even a contributing writer...Welcome Sign!

Welcome...and thank you for sharing this.
Here's something however I wonder about.
Like abused children they cautiously continue to support the mother org, while trusting that somehow being kicked out of their comfort zone is god's direction toward their better interests.
Give them just 6 months, a year or a couple of years max and they will begin the vent their complaints. ......they feel shafted and betrayed. Without the prying eyes of wt police in their private abodes, they will begin to first just casually view our postings. Then, before they know it they too will share. The discouraging part is dubs have been dumped on before....yet they continue on. Alternative sevice adjustments, vaccines now ok, transplants now ok, blood fractions now ok, college now ok, the generation change ok with them.
Will this be any different? Perhaps. Because it will hit their basic needs as you say, may make the difference. It will depend on HOW rough they all have it. Some will be taken care of, and others will out in the cold. The ones in the cold will hopefully find there way here.

Can someone explain the situation? Are firing a bunch of Bethelites for some reason?

Classist...there is a thread on "Bethel downsizing". They are cutting back on their volunter workers and the question that all are wondering is whether any compensation will be given to those with no resources to turn to. Gumby

The WTS is downsizing and based on reports at least 400 have been asked to leave and consider the CO/DO work, special pioneer work, going where the need is great, and regular pioneer work.
Supposedly they bought more efficient printing machines; but really I think that the cash flow is slowing down considerable at Bethel. They may have a lot of property assets, but it takes a lot of cash to keep these buildings and printing facilities going.
Bethelites with 20 or more years are not immune to being "reassigned."

Will this be any different?
As male bethelite, one feels superior to elders, circuit and district overseers cause we learned directly from the GB... Thus when Bethelites get the shaft and roll into the congregations, they will NOT LISTEN to the locals. I don't. Bethel has always inculcated into the Bethelites that they are the cream of the crop, that many traveling overseers WANT to be Bethelites ... thus they have created monsters.trust me on this, the appointed time is now, it is here

The congregations will be in upheavalI hope so. I hope they complain a lot. And I hope people listen to them. Nothing like hearing that other jws have complaints and maybe even doubts just like you do. There is a file in every jw brain. Into that file goes everything that doesn't ring true. It adds up. Yes, there is a cummulative effect. I just hope someone gets ahold of my sis and little bro and talks their ears off.
