itsallgoodnow, I was an IDIOT. I believe everything those liars said from the platform. It wasn't until they had a sister from our congo go up and give her "experience" on stage at a CA, an experience that was almost unrecognizable to anyone who knew her, that I realized that the dear brothers made stuff up. It was a real shock to my poor, gullible, brainwashed mind.

Ditto Luna2. I fell for them all hook line and sinker too. And then a sister that had just recently been to mexico, and you know what they say about foreign countries "It isn't cheating when you are in a different zip code", well she followed that rule. And then she gave her experience on a District convention part. I wanted to puke. In fact, I was sitting in my seat cussing like a sailor out loud, how the h*** could they use her. I was starting to see the light. Still took a while though.

You beat me to it Under_Believer, but in the version I heard the brother's life was spared because he knew the day's text.

    oh hell no!!

There is no way. If only that poor woman or man ,, only knew those seven miles would get him no where in the end.

Honestly I knew a sister , who was this way,,,,,,,,she was always suffering in one way or another to make meetings, or make ends meet to service Jah. It was hard to see her daughter suffer .

I went pretty regular in the begining and did my own fair share of guilt treatment to those who did not. In the begining, it is so easy to make fun of people who do not attend as much after decades of burn out. Oh how you soon learn though, the why?

We had a sister with two little girls at our Hall. Her husband was Native American and struggled with alcoholism. They were really poor, and it pained me to see the little girls in rags, while Sister S. scraped up money for the circus ass-embly in Chicago. Invariably, her car would break down in a scary neighborhood. She used to call my dad, an elder, late at night sometimes to say Mr. S. was beating her. My dad used to sigh and tell her to call back if she needed him to come over. Never did he advise her to call the police. Mr. S. was usually mad about her going to the meetings, but that was her "obstacle" she endured for Jehoopla.

The police came during the riot, and they grabbed the brother. He protested to the police "but I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses!" and they told him if he really was, he would have been at the meeting and not out with this mob, because they knew there was a meeting that night.

I always thought something was wrong every time I heard this one.

Turns out there was something wrong. Very wrong.

From a circuit assembly a few years ago: Brothers and sisters, consider the experience of sister Lives In A Shoe. She has 12 children to look after and get to meetings. Yet she still manages to pioneer full time! If she can do it surely you can pioneer too!

Here's one from a CO's visit a few years back: Brother and Sister Materialistic decided not to go out in Service one Saturday morning. Instead they went shopping at the local mall, just like the rest of the Canaanites. They left their two children home unsupervised. The children decided to cook their own breakfast and the house caught on fire and the children were burned to death. Oh, if only they had been out in service as a family that morning, this whole tragedy could have been avoided! (I was a dyed in the wool faithful JW when I heard that one and it made me pukin mad then!)

My all time personal favorite, from a more recent CO's visit: Brother slacker and brothers Faithful were delivering literature across a military checkpoint in some iron curtain war torn country. The whole group were told to take their publisher's record cards with them for identification as JW's. (WTF? My bullshit radar has immediately gone off at this point in the story) At the military checkpoint, the guards ask to see their i.d. and they present their record cards. Not only do the guards know what the hell a record card is, but they also know how to read one and judge the brothers on their hours. Amazing! Poor brother Slacker only had 2 hours on his card and the guards ask him why he only has 2 hours last month. (A better question might be why would the guard care?) Brother Slacker gives the guards some lame ass excuse like he was in the hospital or his children were burned to death in a fire! (see above) Not buying this, the guards took him aside and beat him to a bloody pulp for not being a better JW. (Bullshit sirens are now screaming in my head at the improbability of this scenario!). Then the CO says, "brothers and sisters, the elder's can't stand at the back and beat you as you leave the KH because you have low hours (said in a tone of voice implying they would like to because you deserve it but unfortunately, the law forbids us), however, we can all see the danger inherent in being a low hour publisher! (Well of course! It's so obvious!)

I had to stop myself from laughing out loud during this experience. My family got an earful on the way home though. I should really thank this CO. I believe this encouraging experience was instrumental in helping me to realize that they are just MAKING THIS CRAP UP as they go along!

Ah Blondie, once again you've given us the golden goose... that's fantastic. If only I could find the same enthusiasm driving me to the gym.
