I take it for granted that we don't need AC here. There maybe literally just a few days in the summer when it gets too hot for comfort and we turn a fan on or open a window to let the breeze in. Winter is another story - I don't like the cold much.

I got mine last Friday. It was $56.32. 2100 s.f. total electric house. I would check with the other tenants to see if your bill is normal.

As an apartment dweller I'm used to an electric bill that is about $80 to $100 per month... but with the summer heat my bill just jumped to $180!

    OUCH!!!!!!!

I miss the south and her culture. I don't miss the heat and the electric bills. Last summer, running central air 24/7 in a two bedroom place of about 1000 square foot, it cost me $78 to keep it very cool. I'm talking set between 68 and 72. We've only had to use it for three days this year so far. We have a cool front in and tomorrow it won't reach 70 outside. In the next few days the highest temp will be around 75. Usually it stays at 80 or below here. Last summer was warmer than usual but still well below 90. These Michigander yankees complain about the heat. I tell them this is wonderful compared to the southeast or Texas. Of course due to the high natural gas prices all year, my heating bill was around $130 for the coldest months. I was poor enough to get a voucher to pay $96 to pay some of it with.

My electric bill for the past month was $30. I thought that was high. It used to run $17 when we weren't running a/c.

wow some of you have so little you have to pay. here in the south, our txu bill ran $261 last year about july. we have a old 3 bedroom house. But it has had some updtes to stop airleaks and all that (windows etc). I am dreading the first bill. probably will get it tmrw when I na't call txu and scrream.

I know the folls with newer homes hav itlucky(expect fo the mortages) the home are very energy efficent, and the bills ar really cheap.

In the menatme, with my old house, ( set it it 78-80 as high as i can stand, use fans, and openthe windows if the day has a 'cool part" (when would that be-huh)

as usaul, poor poeple who can barely afford to pay these bills anyhow, get stuck with the highest bills.

and gas too, gas is higher in poor parts of town.

Average electric bill here would be around $100 a month. Ours is $20. When people ask why, we explain how to use less, and see their eyes glaze over in seconds. It really is that simple though.
