Y'no, I find that since I left the borg, I know more about whats in the literature and programs than when I was in. When your going through the motions,er, meetings, you kind of skate along. You read enough of the mags to place them, and listen to other zealots ( like my sister) prattle on about little nuggets of something other than gold, in the latest mag.

Now that i'm out, I can turn a critical eye to the propaganda. As I read post that highlights the latest WT on murmuring, or the conventions, while it is literally the same bile thats been published by the society for years, I can now see the nuances of propaganda and control that the WT$ uses to condition the minds of the R&F.

Just wandering who else, now that you are out, tend to pay more attention to the literature, now that you look at it with eyes unfurled?

I dont really pay much attention to it, but I never really had. I think when I go to meetings I am more attuned to things now b/c I listen to hear all the crap that they are saying and the brainwashing that they have all encountered, but I try not to read the literature except when necessary for my parents.

we aren't out yet, but starting with the pedophelia dateline we looked at the pubs more critically and you are right. once you see it you think "how could i have missed these things?" but once you do see it i don't know how you could ever go back to being blind. i think that is why they gave quotes so much trouble. having the light shown on their ignorance and duplicity must have really hurt some egos.

I like what someone said about them taking quotes to court. How can you sue someone, who is just printing what you wrote, and have distributed throughout the world. I also find it funny to notice all the words they use to shut down your critical thoughts against them. Statements like 'all honest hearted persons will admit' or 'surely you would agree' to soften your mind up for their conditioning to work its magic.

I think that many experience this because you are now 'out of the woods' as it were and can see the wood despite the trees. When your mind has been conditioned to see only red beans, say, even in a pile of multicoloured beans you will only see the red ones and to make sure you do they put filters on your eyes and ears - as has been mentioned, the so called 'honest hearted ones' ( how I hate that word - ONES, loyal ones, these ones etc). This is classic emperors new clothes stuff and this is reinforced in the WT. One WT said - in paraphrase - that if you could not think of any blessings that happened to you recently, then you should examine your relationship with Jehovah to see what you were doing wrong. Ergo, no one has not been blessed recently and you start seeing blessings in any and every situation. When your mind is freed from this slavery it is like being given x-ray vision and you wonder why no-one else can't see through the con. But they can't and just sit there nodding in agreement and clapping and the like. I remember one terminally dull assembly (by anyones standards) when I was on the fade and a 'zealous' bro came to talk to me; I said 'Are you enjoying the assembly?', his reply was 'Cracking assembly, cracking'. I was really hoping against hope that he might say 'No, it's as dull as ditch water' but no chance.

I love the Saturday convention talk that was concentrating onmaking us want to be "elders and Ms, and etc.", during that talk I opened the Bible in James 3:1 and read the verse to my JW friend next to me. He looked at me with 4 eyes, but he did eventually open them to the truth that the society purposely omits scriptures that will contradict their teachings!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, I am thoroughly convinced the WTS never intended to take Quotes to court. If this had been taken to court, I am convinced that Quotes would have won "fair use". Corporations can't legally shut down websites just because they are embarrassing. The WTS's intent was to muzzle Quotes, and the surest way to do that is to drag him through year after grinding year of preliminary discovery. They did not win any court case, they overwhelmed him by way of their deep pockets.

It seems only fair to me that the WTBTS continue to pay for their duplicity, by watching the base of their operations, the donations of the rank and file, evaporate like the trickling waters of Babylon.

When you are removed from a mind control situation, the mind begans to process all of the information that you have been getting. The reason that the JWs and other mind control groups require so much of your time is for that purpose. The opening of your eyes after being out for a while is a classic result of leaving. Many people have begun to see the real light after having to stop going to meetings due to illness or other situations.

There was an online article about this effect but I can't find it right now. If I do find it, I'll post the link.

They are very subtle in the way they brainwash people and indeed their prime objective is to deceive though they cover up that intention very cleverly. They certainly don't want to help their members but rather to exploit them and manipulate them into doing things that serve the WTS interests.
