Governing Body goes out in service?

Just curious--is anybody here knowledgable in how much time the various Governing Body members spend "sharing in the field ministry" after they are appointed? Specifically, going door to door? I'm just curious, after happening on the following quote from Randy's website:

It should be kept in mind, however, that for the most part, the theologians of Christendom do not go from house to house, and many Bible commentators tend to interpret the Scriptures in the context of their own experience. A more objective consideration of Jesus' instruction indicates that he was speaking about his disciples' searching out people individually, either from house to house or publicly, and presenting to them the message of the Kingdom. (Matthew 10:7) Their response would indicate whether they were deserving or not. Matthew 10:12-15.
This is seen in Jesus' words at Matthew 10:14: "Wherever anyone does not take you in or listen to your words, on going out of that house or that city shake the dust off your feet." Jesus was speaking about his disciples' making uninvited calls on people to preach to them. WT 1-1-88, p. 23

Anybody? Do those Governing Body members really meet for service, put together car groups, and start knocking? Also, as far as "interpreting scripture in the context of their own experience," isn't that exactly what Governing Body members do? (with a 2/3 majority vote first, of course.)

Some do, some don't. I don't think Rutherford ever went d2d; probably counted the time he spent in giving speeches. BTW, I think he was the one that started the process of every Bible Student then JW having to turn in a time slip.

I'm sure they do to keep up appearances, but really who's going to get on their case if they don't?

How could they go d2d? They're crunchy old men! I doubt they'd make it up the stairs with their wheelchairs and walkers, and ring the doorbell without falling over, or knock on the door without bruising.

Actually 4 to 5 of them are under 60 years old. Not too feeble to go door to door.

Well, I personally have gone out in service with Guy Pierce, so I know he USED to walk the walk (and he carried a big stick, too.)
Just curious whether these guys do the d2d thing after being voted into the ivory tower. Insider information would be especially appreciated.

If they don't go they can easily find excuses for that such as not all soldiers have to fight at the front line and they are doing enough in other work related to preaching.

The real point is that they are lying to and deceiving their members in order to exploit them to their own ends.

Yes, some of the GB go door to door, even after their appointment to the GB.

I know in the old Brooklyn Heights congregation in the 70s I saw Grant Suiter and John Booth doing field service. I can't say how often they went out, however. I also saw Karl Klein out in service in Tucson, AZ at a district assembly in 1980.

I have gone out with Barber. But this was before he became a GB.

Also, over the past year or so I have, on several occasions, seen Schroeder in a wheelchair with his wife and several "handlers" in front of the Towers building in Brooklyn Heights. He had Wt's pinned to his chest. I am sure they counted his 15 minutes of time even though he appeared to be totally incoherent and had no idea what was going on.

Note: These observations occurred prior to his death. I have not seen him since.
