Who's to say Jesus has "approved" the FDS and "appointed them..."

    "...over His belongings" ???

I think the entire system of Witness beliefs hinge on this issue: Is the Governing Body the mouthpiece that Jehovah is using to lead faithful ones on earth?

It seems JW's just assume that Jesus did inspect them and did appoint them over his belongings. What if that inspection didn't go so well if it did, in fact, take place in the early 20's? What if it hasn't even happened yet? What if it is yet to be determined whether or not they actually are faithful and discreet and have God's approval or that perhaps they're occupying the role of the "evil slave", which would explain the Pharisee-like rules and regulations that overstep scripture that have ruled the organization for decades?

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, as well as any recent (last 2 years) information from the JW publications concerning this.

    Thanks!

    Well Theocrat,
It obviously can't be proven. Their "evidence" is an obviously highly subjective interpretation of history. As for objective evidence, I just don't see it. If we use their contention that that their growth shows God's appointment of them and blessing, then how are we to intepret the current slow-down in their growth and massive loss of membership? And if growth is the big criterion, then how about the runaway growth of Evangelicals in third world countries? Wouldn't that imply that Evangelicals now hold that favored position with God?
Of all their teachings, that one is not only the most important, but also the one which stands on the shakiest ground.

We all knows what happens when you assume...
You make an ass out of you and me.
No seriously this theory is so bogus. The new 'Organized' book actually goes as far as to say that Christs belongings are printing factories and branch facilities.
It continues to amaze me how bizzare this stuff is and how so many people will defend it. I really knew nothing about these kind of teachings as a Witness being that they are so well hidden for only the true members to find. Once I started to read this stuff out of the books and magazines I was on my way out!

Who's to say? They're to say. They say it themselves. And you better believe it, CROWDIE.

    No surprise, indeed.
Who are you, and what prompted you to mention that I don't know who you are?

It seems JW's just assume that Jesus did inspect them and did appoint them over his belongings. What if that inspection didn't go so well if it did, in fact, take place in the early 20's?

Here's their 'evidence' that Jesus approved them:

*** w04 3/1 pp. 13-14 ‘The Faithful Slave’ Passes the Test! *** " In 1914, Jesus was enthroned as King, and soon it was time to inspect that "slave." For the most part, he found that the "slave" had proved itself "faithful and discreet." Hence, he appointed it "over all his belongings." (Matthew 24:45-47)

That's it....what's hilarious (and pathetic) is that they say that the slave had proved itself faithful and discreet at that time. Yet in 1914 or 1918 or whenever the hell it was that they were supposedly "approved", they still celebrated birthdays, christmas, they still taught that all Christians went to heaven, they still had the cross up at Bethel, etc........

All these things are now disfellowshipping offenses, yet 90 years ago it was a mark of them being chosen by God? Gimme a f**king break...........

Thanks Mary. This is exactly what I'm talking about!

Where is the evidence that the slave was inspected and approved by Jesus. Something is definately amiss here. JW's are all about pointing to the laundry list of evidence that Jesus began ruling as King in heaven in 1914, but when it comes to this one key issue, they simply state the above quote.

I think this is going to be the issue that, with time, will unfold the real truth about Jehovah's Witnesses.
