There is even immature behaviour on JWD site. I think we need to stop judging by the actions of individual person or JW's but maybe more by the actions of the WTS. I saw immature behaviour in my KH, but it never bothered me...I let them get on with it. Those that acted immature never really became apart of the congregation.
I think for the most part immature behaviour was another phrase for 'trying to make light of a bad or difficult situation' and theres no harm in that.
It always astounded me why people wouldnt allow themselves to laugh heartily or make light of things at the KH; people were utterly miserable, controlled and repressed its was freaky. I remember as teenagers we would have a right laugh about something or other....and Bro Elder would turn up and say those fateful words 'remember this is 'Jehobahs House'
Yeah well forgive me for trying to enjoy myself!

I was immature. Before meetings I often went to a local Greek restaurant and had a souvlaki dinner. I'd pay a bit extra and get them to load up triple the tzatziki sauce. Then, when I got to the hall I would be a little more outgoing than usual, and greet all the elders and others I disliked as they came in. I'd make it a point to exhale heavily when I spoke to them, so they'd have to suffer through my garlic breath.
Once it was even mentioned in a local needs™ part, but it didn't stop me from doing it regularly.

Very much so.
When those in charge run the place on the 'buddy' system how else would it turn out? Elders wives are the worst. It's amazing to see how they treat others like dirt because they aren't part of their 'in' crowd.
The craziest thing is to see people ignore members of their own family and treat them bad because they aren't part of the 'in' crowd they support. -

I eventually reads Raymond Franz's book a few days ago....and if anything it sounded to me the views of a bitter old man....His words to me seemed immature. He descibed a few faults with the WTS, which is no more than saying to someone....you only scored 98% percent in an exam...so let me concentrate on the 2% percent you did wrong. For me...it is a reason for staying a JW if he can only produce so much little 'dirt' from the top
I think this is proof that you havent read it....his words were hardly bitter and were extremely objective considering the history of the situation.
The errors/actions of the WTS were fundamentally wrong and immoral and the fact that you can say you have read this and believe that such allegations were trivial shows a lack of morality on your part.
Either you should read the book and be honest or invest in some moral fibre!

While we are on the subject of immature behaviour it brought to mind a point which I hadnt thought of in a while.
We all know that as witnesses we were not allowed to swear or curse and there was a huge thing made of out replacement swear words such as 'bloody hell' being replaced with 'bloomin eck' or 'oh shit' being replaced with 'oh sugar'.
WHY? surely the important thing was not to let anything obscene come out of your mouth so what was the harm in replacing the words? Another form of control in my view!
Anyway, I dropped some literature when at the KH and I said rather angrily 'oh sugar' (hehe it was a bit tame for me I know) and this elders wife came over and took me to one side and asked whether I realised what I had just said...to which i repeated 'yeah, sugar!'
She then went on to lecture me that using those words was just as bad as saying the real ones blah blah so me being a smartarse asked her which she would prefer I say, shit (which was said quite loudly) or sugar.
It was immature I know but it was fun to see her face!

Ok...I misunderstood the question...of course there is no harm in having a laugh and a joke...even during the meetings it is ok...to a reasonable level. I thought the question was refering to people who just acted immature for their age or just acted in a stupid (not funny) way.
Mmmmmm! I have read the book...by the way...that was my opinion of the book. If you don't like my feelings on what he wrote...tough...see if I care.
