No mention of a police presence though. In the past the police have been criticised for being heavy handed at such occasions. I was surprised the crowds were allowed inside the stone circle too.
To be honest there was a strong police prescence throughout the whole event but they were respectful and kept their distance except when there was some minor trouble; they seemed to turn a blind eye to the amount of dope being smoked too and providing nobody took the proverbial p*ss they seemed not to care less. I think the police were keen to avoid another 'Battle of Beanfield'! The only day when access to the stones and inside them is allowed is Solstice. The stones opened for access at 10pm on tuesday night and closed at 9am the following morning. Apart from a few minor scuffles there wasnt any trouble at all and the police dealt with those appropriately and quickly. DB74
