"...I am wondering why they dont advertise on TV..."
Hmmm... let's see... a 30-minute info-mercial... they can probably get Michael Jackson to host it... or Prince...
yup... that'll bolster the ranks by a few hundred thousand.

ALL EMPHASIS IS NO EMPHASIS
To get every JW and non-JW ready for 1975, the WTS had six tracts distributed from 9/73 to 11/75. Note the titles.
KINGDOM NEWS NO. 16 DISTRIBUTED 9/21-30, 1973 (Is Time Running Out for Mankind?)
KINGDOM NEWS NO. 17 DISTRIBUTED 12/22-31, 1973 (Has Religion Betrayed God and Man?)
KINGDOM NEWS NO. 18 DISTRIBUTED 5/3-12, 1974 (Government by God—Are Your For It?—Or Against It?
KINGDOM NEWS NO. 19 DISTRIBUTED 11/1-10, 1974 (Is This All There is to Life?)
KINGDOM NEWS NO. 20 DISTRIBUTED 5/2-11, 1975 (Would You Welcome Some Good News?)
KINGDOM NEWS NO. 21 DISTRIBUTED 11/1-10, 1975 (Your Future—Shaky or Secure?)

The Watchtower bible and tract society isn't really about spreading their messege. They are about using the messege they spread to justify buying real estate under the guise of non-profit religious work in a tax-free venue.
The door to door work is a front for what the corporation was originally set up to do. C.T. Russell never set out to start a religion. He was a businessman. Rutherford hijacked the corporation and turned it into a crackpot tinkertoy outgrowth of his fantasy life and power mad megalomania.
Nathan Knorr organized the rank and file and gave them more of a role. Franz was still a closet Adventist and pursued his Rhodes Scholar persona by inventing new doctrinal paradigms that only he understood.
When the 1975 train wreck happened everybody had to start from scratch and re-invent what they believed.
Some real soul-searching went on. The were finally intellectually dishonest enough to realize the Governing Body could not eat enough crow to regain rank and file confidence. So, they went the other direction and cracked down on people. They demand obedience and no questioning of their authority.
The Watchtower bible and tract society isn't really about spreading their messege.Terry, you have made this excellent point before. The message is so wacky that if people understood the message they would run, not walk away.
So if the goal is not the message, what is it. Just follow the money. The trail leads to their publishing and real estate empire.
The goal of the campaigns is not to get the message out but to keep the troops busy.
1975 DAYJAHVU!!!
There is a whole "new" generation that doesn't know anything much about 1975, if they have even heard it at all. And many older ones who didn't go through it will deny it ever took place! So for MANY, this END IS NEAR.... hype is a first for them!! Only to be disappointed as they grow old and weary, with no income to speak of, no immediate "plan", because they sacraficed everything thinking what's the point, the "end is near!!"

Have to agree - it's more difficult to relate to what you haven't personally experienced - it's 'Ancient' History to the new ones. And you're right Lady Liberty -1975 seems to be completely erased from the minds of those who TOLD it to me originally!
There won't be anything special about the material, that's for sure, just the same old crap they've been spewing out of Brooklyn for years. Maybe they just want to rally the troops a bit just after the dcs. In past years round here, there is always a bit of an upsurge in the publishers average hours just after the dc, but it never lasts. Perhaps they want to try and prolong it a bit this year.
sir82... after you go to the meeting and find out more, could you post what you find out?
It's interesting that they're on the false religion kick again. It's good too--people are more apt to recognize the craziness of their teachings when they say such offensive/bizarre/unloving things. I look forward to seeing a scan of it. I hope it has some more odd artwork--that's always entertaining.
