    joe,

i too have been asking the same questions, and also wondering how we can help the police to investigate this. I wonder if we pm' barbara anderson (andersoninfo here) or bill bown (probably easier to go tho his site silentlambs.org) and just ask them.

this is a golden moment and we can't let it slip by. It has caught us all off guard. unlike some things were we have tried to bring info - I mean worked hard to get it into their hands, of the media, wow, we have a huge giant massive story just given to us, a gift from god, but we have to let the right people know so they can make use of this. how many more of these chances are we going to get? I mean, a bethellite? too good to be true.

I may have missed it but has anyone brought this story to the attention of Bill O'Reilly of Fox? He has given a lot of focus to child sex abuse cases on his program.

    Thanks for that.

The reason I ask is that if anyone can give me a 'reasonable' reason, I'll call my friend in the US and ask - or beg - if necessary that he calls in favours and makes sure things are done right.

This would be a 'one-time' thing and would probably mean my calling in favours and the end of the friendship - but for this purpose I'd be happy to do it.

Lots of congregations, at least in the US, have pc's for the publishers to use. They aren't connected to the internet though. Just to use for searching the cdrom. I say lots of congregations, not all congregations.

There is a computer network in Walkill Paterson as well as one in the Canadian Branch. Traditionally only those with administrative type jobs would have access to it however. Mechanics? Doubtful but I am also 10 years out of the loop on most things US Branch/HQ related.

OK, I have thought of another route for this.

I will call a guy I know (I recruited him and used to be his boss) tomorrow (it's 10 p.m. here now). He has worked on computer crime cases (UK) with the FBI and still has contacts afaik.

I'll put together whatever I can from the site and the links and ask him to speak to his contacts to give them the full picture and suggest possible lines of enquiry.

Not much more I can do, I'm afraid. Now I'm retired I don't have the contacts I once did.

Do you think that with all this publicity and knowing that this isn't the first case that has happened, but do you think that the JW's will stand behind Cano or do you think they will start to open their eyes and realize what they are doing is wrong?

Personally, I think they are going to stand behind this crap and say that everything was taken care of within the organization... hopefully I am wrong though.

Their difficulty will be if some previous knowledge of his behaviour comes to light and is publicised. Or if something can be found on an internal WTBTS computer network he had access to.

Good morning, Brother Jaracz. The tune up on your Mercedes is complete. I hope you don't mind, but I went ahead and detailed the interior as well, as there was some schmutz in the back seat after I came back from O'Hare with it. I can't imagine how that happened.

    Your faithful servant,

    Manuel

I must confess that I was very skeptical that there was really a pervasive child abuse problem in JW congregations. I had been out for about twenty years (since the 1980's) when Ed Dunlap's wife told me about the issue a couple of years ago. When I heard it, I just thought that maybe there were one or two isolated cases, and the local BOE tried to avoid the bad publicity. We did have one case reported when I was an elder, but the charge was against a fellow elder, and we just all assumed it was simply either a misunderstanding or a case of retribution. We just ignored it.

Now that I am seeing these alarming reports here on JWD - I must say that I am shocked.

Statistically, can anyone prove that this organization has an abnormal number of offenders? Probably not; we will likely never know how many there are...but the more cases that come up, the more I think there might be at least one or two in almost every congregation.

I don't remember where I saw it, but I also read of such a scandal running rampant within the Amish communities...and of course, the splinter groups of Mormonism.

    Sickening.
