“Hi Dim, No one said they are ALL like that.”--Tina
I don’t see any exclusions in the following, do you? “I have to say the Jehovah's Witnesses digust me…” –Kent. It doesn’t say ‘some’ or even ‘most’ , it’s a blanket statement. I don’t agree with it.
Dim qualified it with a later post by using the word ‘most’. Seeker4’s statement is more reasonable still with the comment: “I believe that many JWs will react in the mindless way that has been mentioned here - but many will not. “ The statement to which I referred had no such qualifiers attached. Fanaticism is a two edge sword that is not limited to those with whom we choose to take issue. It can and often does come back to cut the wielder as well.
YOU did not say that they were all like that but it was implied by another poster. I was happy to see Seeker’s post to be more on the reasonable side of things.
while 'good dubs are shocked and saddened ,they are also knocking on doors preaching'gods kingdom'.How is this going to be achieved? Through worldwide genocide. Nice dichotomy there. --TinaObfuscation. One has nothing to do with the other and I would be happy to debate this with you.
Conflicted wrote: “you are showing the same callousness for dubs as they show for the world. Healing can't begin until the boundries are dropped and we help people regardless of their beliefs - it goes both ways…It comes from the top, and that is where the blame lies, not with the individual who is repeating what he/she has been taught.” I say AMEN to that and to the entire post. Very well put.
Dungbeetle said: "There is no hatred, callousness, no emotions at all involved in passing along these postings." No emotions?
conflicted says:
They have been trained to disregard life. It isn't the fault of the individual, the organization is to blame. The org has trained and indoctrined the rank and file to feel nothing for anyone who is not a JW. That way they can teach about the extermination of the planet without sorrow or remorse.
It comes from the top, and that is where the blame lies, not with the individual who is repeating what he/she has been taught.

and this sums it up very nicely- just think - due to the training there will not be ONE Elder who will walk up on a stage in a Hall or Assembly this weekend who will include in thier prayers the NONJW
if an elder were to do so he would be one of a very few who would be brave enough to so
how sad

A Catholic bystander....."I hope all the Catholics in the buildings are okay."
A Mormon watching TV at home...."I hope no Mormons were in the buildings."
A Baptist woman watching from across town...."I hope no Baptists died in the tragady."
A Protestant preacher on Sunday..."I hope no Protestants got hurt."
A Pentacostal Holiness youngster watching the mayhem...."I hope no Holiness were in the crowd."
My JW niece on the phone...."I hope the bros. and sisters at Bethel are okay."
Does ANYONE see how ridiculous this is??

Frenchy, you queried: "No emotions?". Yes, there was one emotion that prompted me to start this thread: sadness. Deep sadness. It has completed its mission, though. People looked at their own humanity. I've seen active JW's admit to their humanness and their love, and their willingness to do whatever it took to help and comfort others no matter what.
If you will read my initial post on this thread (page one, top) you will see that I was basically imploring anybody with fellow feeling who was a Jehovah's Witness, to speak up after taking a hard look at what had been written and reported on as being heard in the active, good standing witness community.
I'm sorry if the statements bothered you. I honestly, and concisely reported on what I'd heard different denominations say about the tragedy. I contrasted them with things I'd "heard" the witnesses say. Up to that point, I'd not heard one word of sympathy or compassion directed towards anyone BUT fellow witnesses by other witnesses. NOT ONE. not one.....I knew not every individual witness was like this--in fact I still hold that if they could be more of the individuals they are SANS the DOGMA, the witnesses, at their core are good, loving people. It's the dogmatic teaching of untold genocide and the collective persona that dictates, if you are not with us you are against GOD that prompts such calloused unfeeling responses. What I did with this post is remind EVERYONE that they are human. They are part of the human family. You can't beat out, legislate out, brainwash out a person's humanness forever. Frenchy, I'm truly sorry if the words and actions of your own people unsettle you. I realize that it's the collective talking and not the individuals. Now, please, if there's feeling left in you for your fellow man, stop trying to defend these calloused remarks...there's work to do, roll up your sleeves and help us clean up, bind wounds, heal, rebuild---or step aside, and try to stop convincing people that this organizaation in anyway reflects so called christian love.
Peace,
Bridgette
Hey Bridgette before you start pointing the finger
-ever stop to think that the Catholic Church has been responsible for the murder of millions of people? While they were blessing troups on this conitenient to murder, they were blessing troups on another? Both saying that if they carried out thier duty by giving their life they would instantly go to heaven. History books, not JW and WTBS sources.
Kinda sounds like the barbaric KamKazie's doesn't it? Japanese were promised the same thing. Listen to the stories of Rhuanda a predominantly Catholic country from what I heard from the BBC. What did the church do? They abdicated any responsiblity for what any one of it's members did to contribute to this genocide. I heard it with my own ears on the BBC.
Not to minimize the tragedy and to put it in perspective, but 2 bldgs with some 50000 people is very small to the million or so who died barbaricly at the hands of their so-called christian brothers. Take 10 of those bldgs -thats what Rhuanda seen in death tolls. What did the world do by-and-large? For it's shear size and immensity it got relatively little coverage.
Ever stop to think that the individuals who dropped the bombs on Japan
were "christian" We're talking about 98000 civilians. Ask the Japanese about who the first real international terrorists were.
Well the sick people flying those planes had the same promise. Instant communion with God.
Remember people are instinctively drawn to their own "people" so-to-speak.
No doubt some people said, "I hope my brother/father/sister/brother got out." Did that mean they don't care about all the others? Try not to twist the facts, particularly your focus on JWs and the WTBS.
James:
[q]When i read former jw comments many times i often wonder how many of you fully understand the role that a High control group has in shaping the mindset of it's members-
Many post speak of slapping brain dead jw up side the head, etc,
when in fact many of us had the same mindset- for those who didn't like my wife- great , but for myself i too once shared the same mindset[/q]
You are so right James ...... we did have that mind set for the most part.
The celebrators are just as much a part of a cultic mind set as are the JW's ..... so too are the people who did this deed. The leaders who instigated it are another matter!
I recall Cyclone Tracy which devastated Darwin here on Christmas 1974. I and my family responded immediately by helping to collect money to help the victims .... the whole city was destroyed and evacuated.
The majority of brothers did what the Elders said .... left it up the the society to take approriate action .... how much was that? Nothing really!
We had two families come to our congregation and all they got out of us was a few items of clothing, and other no longer wanted bits and pieces, and being found a house to rent.
I was hauled on the carpet because I had the audacity to raise $500.00 plus to help out the victims.
That helped me leave too seeing all that "love"

Hi Everyone;
Isn't it amazing how the "Christian" dubs think that this can be the beginning of "Da Great Tribalation". Jdubs can be so shallow in their thinking. This event will probably strenghten, not weaken the spirtual side of people of all religions. I.E. candle light vigils, moments of silence. etc. I'd like to kick those Jdubs who think this is the beginning of the end, right in the arse for standing as the epitome of ignorance in their thinking, and making such Godamn stupid ass remarks.
