Do You REALLY Believe That A Pedophile Issue Will Bring Down The Watchtower

Not bring them down, but they will lose credibility. I think the catholic church has lost a lot of credibility, it is the butt of jokes If jws lose credibility, it will hurt them. Imagine going in service with all this once it finally gets around to all news agencies. It may also give some younger jws the strength to fight back, question procedures, and not be so sheeplike. One brick on the wall, one at at time.(i can hear Pink Floyd now) yes it can "fall" but not b/c of one man. It will just stop being "scary" to jws and they will learn they can protect themselves and their family. I hope they do, for the childrens sake.
This will let children know that they can trust their instincts and if someone makes them feel uncomfortable, they need to tell their parents.

This is what is occuring in Portland, Oregon with the Portland Catholic Archdiocese. When the Portland branch is completely bankrupt the lawyers are going to go after the assets of the members of the church. Such as placing liens on houses, cars and attaching bank accounts of members of the Portland Archdiocese Catholic Church.

Credibility in the field is the key. The more situations like this are exposed on a national level, as opposed to locally, the more credibility the J-Dubs lose.
Just this morning, I rode the bus with a J-Dub that was witnessing to two 20-something girls. When he stopped to take a breath, I interjected about the Cano events, and how this is a pattern within the JWs that has been documented in the press as far back as 2002. I also pointed out that they could verify this on the various websites that I gave them. The J-Dub turned 12 shades of red, and attempted to sputter some sort of answer. I then turned to those girls and asked them if they would want to raise children in a religion that not only protects pedophiles, but devalues the most innocent of humanity, children, by allowing these sorts of people free reign within the Kingdom Hall to prey on your children? They responded by giving, no throwing, the magazines back at the J-Dub.
It's all about credibility. Can you imagine what they will tell their friends and family when they see the J-Dubs?
It is ALL about credibility!

Links to more current information regarding the Portland Archdiocese. The courts have ruled the Archdiocese "owns" the parishes; therefore, no one can come against the parishioners.
http://www.lifesite.net/ldn/2005/aug/05080207.html This is what they were attempting.

dateline San Francisco, June 30, 2006.
In a surprizing move, several members of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses were spotted sodomizing small children,
while riding on a parade float, moving slowly down Castro Street, at 12 noon. When reached for comment, local ministers of
Jehovah's Witnesses told this reporter, " This changes nothing, as we all know it's still the 'truth'".

No, it won't bring down the Watchtower.
But it will certainly effect the Watchtower image, their credibility as has been said.
As has been said "another brick in the wall" falls out.
The Watchtower lives on the image it projects of itself. good, clean, moral etc.
They have for years portrayed themselves as this "clean organisation" where such things didn't happen. They were always quick to point the finger at the Catholic Church over such things. But at least the RC have had the decency to say "yes we know it goes on, and we are trying to do something about it"
The WT on the other hand try their best to cover it up, even deny the problem exists.
But these things must be kept in peoples minds, made known.
Just as XJW4EVR did with his experience on the bus. (I wish I could have seen that)
By letting people we know. friends relatives, work with, talk to, about this side of the JW's. We make them more reluctant to speak to JW's when they call. Or even raise the point when they do. It will be an embarrassment to the JW.
To dry up the source of their membership will hit them harder than any scandal or issue.

HI everyone, I'm new here and just about to be disfellowshipped ( presumbaly after last nights visit from one of the overseer's anyhow ) no this issue won't bring them down .But this is another mark against them to explain to Jehovah on the day he has stored for the appointed time for each and everyone one of us to be judged . God bless all you who seek the truth in Faith, not by men but by our saviour Christ. And may God heal the hearts of any young one hurt in this way by anyone , especially those claiming to be the chosen ones of God. All the very best to true brothers and sisters - Ade
