Has anyone mentioned bio identical hormone therapy? This is a better way to replace hormones that are waning at any time of life. They are hormones that are made from natural plants, but are identical to human hormones. They are much safer than the old HRT. You have to have a doctor who is up to date on bio identical hormones and that knows how to test your levels and prescribe them for you. Then you have to have a pharmacist who knows how to mix them. Suzanne Somers wrote a book about biodentical hormone therapy for women and men called The Sexy Years. It's what I plan to do when the need hits. I'm 47 and see changes, but not the big change...yet.

Frannie and I are back....you youngins need us!
Seriously, good to hear from you Fran!
My mom died so young before her menopause and I didnt think to ask granny before she passed on.
So the only conversation I've had about menopause was in the JWs. The mother of a young sister told me how she went through her menopause without a glitch! She claimed it was a breeze!
After I heard that I was determined to do the same. Doctors and pills are not my thing.
So I am going through it naturally. So far, so good.
Yeah I've experienced a weight gain, but chalked it up to the dfing and the vino consumption afterwards.
So I am exercising and taking responsiblity for it.
I do feel tired and in a fog but hey..........been there quite a bit of my life. Again, cant blame the menopause entirely.
Exercising more may give me energy. And I've heard exercise may help fight the osteoporosis or brittle bone that accompanies the post menopause years.
Right now I am watching all salts in my diet! Alas, I am just watching them though-----go in my blankin mouth!!!!
I am not afraid of this time in my life. Hey, Im out of the org and happier than ever!
What is a little hot flash or fog or luv handle to me????
Its the STROKES that scare me to death!!!!!OMG! (I'd eat Purina Chow to avoid those if I had to!)
But LONG LIVE JWD! Without it I'd be going through menopause AND NUTS!!!!!
We must stick together as JWD sisters and try to laugh!

This is just one too many endocrine problems for me. I can't handle this. If it's not one thing it's another, I think that my diabetes, hypothyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, lymphocytosis, neutropenia, possible myelodysplasia is undercontrol or nothing to worry about and now this. *#@^! This is not going to be a breeze for me. I feel like a cat on a hot tin roof! My nerves are frazzled! And I feel like crap! Everyone's body is different. People can be pigeon-holed into one size and shape.
Did I tell you girls that I passed out cold last year. No one knew why??? I fell so hard that I broke the railing in the garage. My husband and daughter had to drag me into the house. The fainting, probably, had something to do with this menopause crap. I just didn't know it.
It'll be a wonder if I don't end up in the looney bin!
I find it interesting that in America we call the sweating episodes "hot flashes" and in Europe it's called "hot flushes" Simon, I need a hot flush smiley face!

FHN, I can identify with this part of the article:
I would be remiss, in a discussion of bioidenticals, not to discuss adrenal support, although space limits all but a mention. Much more often than is realized in midlife women, the stress of the menopausal passage added on to the stresses of life accelerated at midlife (partnership issues, financial issues, care of aging parents, teenagers, stress in the workplace, etc.) impacts negatively on the adrenal glands, the “energy supporters” and energy regulators of the body. Cortisol from the adrenals may be dysregulated; DHEA and/or pregnenolone not produced in adequate amounts and energy disruption and fatigue result.
