Who isn't glad to be alive? There are all sorts of good things, socialising with other people, the beauty of nature, sex and family, learning new things, and a myriad of other reasons. Life is give and take.

Early morning hikes to Wildhorse Canyon (my special hideaway in the Rincon Mountains)--watching the interplay of pink, orange, and blue as the sun rises over the ridge; hearing the birds come to life; watching the lizards scurry across the trail in front of me; sitting on a rock reading the Bible, the Popol Vuh (Mayan creation story), Tao Te Ching, or other inspirational work--& realizing that I don't need a man-made Organization to guide me in my quest for Truth..

When I'm photographing a new mom and dad snuggling with their baby.

I'm photographing dying hospice patients for a book to come out this fall. Working with them gives me the greatest sense of gratitude.

For one thing - hearing all of your joys in life. There is a beautiful and fulfilling life after leaving the JW religion.

What makes me glad to be alive?

Like HappyDad said: Seeing your children grow up to be loving people enjoying life to the fullest w/their children despite being raised in an abusive religion. Also, enjoying happy times with them and cuddling and kissing my grandkids.

Talking with my friends, neighbors and also people I don't really know. Not looking at them w/judgemental eyes but sharing experiences, knowledge and human empathy. It makes me feel that I am now again part of the human race.

Reading good books. Cuddling w/my doggy. Enjoying good food and music. Observing the beauty in nature and the funny antics of wildlife.

that I am free to think my own thoughts, live my own life, not drag out to a meeting every other night, knock on doors and harrass my poor neighbors, read any book I want, watch ANY movie I want, and make my OWN mind up about my OWN life choices. life is wonderful.

We x-Jws have come from a negative doom and gloom organizarion. Each morning I live I am glad to have been blessed with another day of life.
