They have to update those this from time to time. Nothing worse then showing up and finding out the guy assigned to do air conditioning died two years ago.

Has anyone noticed that despite all the "spiritual" claims that the Watchtower makes, they are actually very materialistic when it comes to their property and constructing projects?
Without their money, buildings, printing presses and property holdings, the Watchtower and the Jehovah's Witness religion would have vanished over a hundred years ago.
Material growth and managing their assets is what holds them together and keeps them going.

My husband and I were on the RBC for ten years in New York.
After we realized what this organization was really about, we slowly stopped voluntaring- to the point that they kept calling us to come to assist in quick builds.
However, they finally got the message and stopped calling us, especially when we slowed down in our meeting and field service attendence.

THe only one I did attemp to service I ran into the little pissy elder that thought he knew everything about construction and I picked up my tools and went home...
The two times that I went (and the one Assembly Hall build I spent one weekend on), I noticed that elders who had little or no construction experience were making construction decisions that should have been left up to people who knew what they were doing. Brothers in the construction business, who were 'just' publishers but knew more about construction than most any three elders put together would roll their eyes and mutter under their breath a lot, I noticed.
But at the same time I saw some experienced construction guys get really frustrated with the quality of experience of the grunt workers. My last experience of working at a quick build was with a brother that was in charge of the bricklaying and they were using the friends with no experience to create a brick line to keep bricks coming to the layers. They were short on experienced bricklayers so they were using anyone with any experience to lay. The lesser experienced ones(me included) were 'laying to the line' while the better ones were working corners and door/window frames. The brother in charge was barking orders at everyone and basically making it a miserable time for all. He finally snapped, yelled at all the grunts, made them quit, tore down the entire wall and started re-laying it himself. When some others tried to step in to help, he just yelled at them to get away, he'd do it himself, dammit, to make sure it was right. I went home then and that was the last time I ever stepped foot on a quick build site. I knew then how the Israelites felt when they had to make brick with no straw.

At one quick build 2 elders literally came to blows on the building site.
One is still an elder. It was very discouraging indeed to all involved.
