Saturday morning books study & Field Service combined

I noticed recently that the book study I used to attend, used to be on a Tuesdays or Thursdays, but now it's on a Saturday morning.

I notice that there are quite a few book studies on Saturdays now. I think that 2 out of the 4 books studies in my congregation are on Saturdays.

Is this a new way to get people to go out in the Field Service on Saturdays?

Is this a sign that there are too many meetings and that they combine them together, and now they get a Tuesday or Thursday off?

I think it may be scheduled to "help" those who can't get to a meeting during the week.

It could be a perfect excuse to get people to go out in the field service on Saturdays also

Just attending the Book Study and not going out in the field service after is like, going to the Sunday meeting and leaving right before the Watchtower meeting....

going to the Sunday meeting and leaving right before the Watchtower meeting....

    and that's a problem?

I agree that if I were inclined to go in field service, I would combine the book study & field service in one morning, for convenience.

Our old congregation has done this for as long as I can remember. For them, it is absolutely a way to get people out in service afterward. We were treated like lepers when we would get up to leave before service. Instead of letting that bother us we just quit going to the bookstudy. Didn't need the guilt.

It was the same at our bookstudy arrangement. Early Saturday morning bookstudy and then it was just assumed that everyone was going out in service, since they wouldn't do the concluding prayer until after the field service arrangement was done. You actually had to put your hand up to indicate you were NOT going out. Another way to take any possibility of sleeping in away from us!

In this area, there aren't Saturday morning meetings for book study any more. The hours actually dropped by combining the meeting and field service. The ones that weren't going in field service did not go to their assigned group but those on Tuesday evenings. The ones that did come on Saturday were getting in only one hour rather than 2 in field service.

It was 'suggested' locally that one of the book studies change to Saturday Mornings. The suggestion didn't go to far. We all knew why the elders wanted it that way. One less trip to the hall for the Study Overseer. Since he had to be at the hall anyway might as well conduct a book study before. Already dressed up and nowhere to go.

Its like that in my bookstudy group. We meet for the study at 8:30 in the freakin morning which is bad enough.

I usually stay for the goup and then say I have a study to go on and I am meeting another sister. Get's em every time
