I stumbled across this while searching on a totally different topic.

Read through the transcript of the Town Council meeting. The questions asked and the dorkiness of the 'brothers' testifying is hilarious. Someone should create this as a template for anyone wanting to resist Kingdumb Halls being built in their communities.

The Prince Edward Island (Canada) Regional building COmmittee will have tehir hands full with this one. Heh heh heh

So only 2 people in the congregation actually live in the town.........where do the other 105 live?

I can remember the first time it was contemplated to use a KH for a pioneer school. There was no kitchen so the food would have to be cooked elsewhere and brought in. It almost was stopped but the CO prevailed. The one KH that had a basement with a possible kitchen area was unavailable and the kitchen had been dismantled at the assembly hall. If there was such resistance to JWs using the building for something like this, I can imagine how they would feel about letting non-JWs use it.

So if only 2 live in the town, how would the taxes that the 105 pay have any direct benefit?

They didn't know how to respond to the charitable use question. "Uh, well, we are involved in a worldwide work." LOL

They do nothing charitable. I remember when living in PA there was a big flood along the Susquahanna River. A sister gave an experience of how she went along the flood area giving away free literature to the victims as though that was assisting anyone.

Ah what I got from it was there's no good reason to rezone the property for the jws because they pay no taxes which could have been passed over if they could admit to doing charity work for the community. Oops! I don't thinks it's going to be rezoned for them but I could be wrong.

I wonder what the town council would think about rezoning if they were to learn that Jehovah's Witnesses, as a matter of policy, require members who are known to be child molesters to go Door-to-Door™ as part of their Charitable™ efforts in the community.

I think I might just look up a couple of names from that transcript.

Melanie sounded knowledgeable about the jw lack of charity work.
    Go, Mel, Go!

Thanks Uzzah! I haven't had such a good chuckle in a long time.

What the brother™ neglected to mention is that a kingdom hall would strengthen the local economy - primarily for donut shops.
