Okay, so I was at an free out door festival about a week ago. There was a rather dirty looking woman there with her little Yorkie, who looked rather skinny and was a little mangy. So I asked the woman if I could pet the dog. I am happy to say that I could not feel the dog's bones, so I think he was okay feeding wise, he just needed a good combing. Anyways, I pretty much gave the woman the money in my wallet and made her promise to get a good meal and to get her dog some dog food with what she had left over. She seemed like she really loved the dog, so I want to believe in my fantasy world she did as I asked.

My confession - I GOT RINGWORM from the dog. About a day after the holding, petting and YES kissing on the dog, I noticed what appeared to be a dry patch of skin on my shoulder. Well it was red and it just kept growing. This freaked me out, so I went to the doc who informed me of the bacteria I picked up from what was most likely a less then clean animal. HMMM, maybe the poor little dog. So now I have a cream and some pills that I have to take.

Ask me if I would change anything that I did. NO! I would still love on that dog (maybe not kiss it) but love on it. However, I am so embarrassed by the fact that I have something called "ringworm". You are the first to hear about my dirty little secret.

    That's awful ;(

I have to confess that I laughed a little. It's so disgusting to think about.

I hope that poor little doggy did get a good meal out of it.

Forgive me, looking glass, for I have sinned. I once picked up fleas from a stray cat I petted. I never realized how nasty flea bites were, but they're still preferable to ringworm. Don't worry; it clears up very quickly with the medication (my husband caught ringworm many years ago).

........and I just remembered that one of my cousins got intestinal worms because she used to pet the stray cats and then suck her thumb. So gross!

thanks guys. i just had to tell someone, but i am so embarrassed that i cannot tell a soul because i am afraid if they don't know what it is they will think i am a carrier. although there are a couple of people i know that i would not mind sharing this horrible sounding bacteria with. sorry that is the evil side of me coming out.

i really wanted to do homeopathic remedies, but that sounded like they took too long and i really did not want to have to hide behind my shame anymore, so i said give me all the drugs ya got. do you know of any homeopathic remedies out there that work. because i am not know for wisdom in regards to animals, i will scoop them all up and love on them if i can regardless of their look.

from the purps class of loving too many mangy dogs (including men) and cats.

you are a kind person and do want to see humans or animals suffer. That is a good thing, not bad. Growing up our family and my cousins fmaily had cats. Cats are common carriers of ringworm. I have had it a time or two as a child. I used to also get impetigo(sp). and once scabies. We thought nothing of it then , but after I got older I found out those diseases can/are causd by lack of higeine and over crowded conditions. Children also pick up so many things the first year or two at school. I once adopted a sweet little dog from the animal shelter and it had parvo and we had to have it put to sleep, and had to clean our house with bleach and not let any other animal in the house for one year. They said that parvo (virus, germ?) can live that long. It was horrible watching that dog become ill, he was sick for abou 3-t 4- days before we took him to the vet, and knew it was parvo.

Last year I had an a profound experience . Myusband and I were on our way somewhere, and stopped at a stop and go . I sat in the car. I saw a man who was probably in his 40's very hard to tell) wearing flthy mismatched clothing He was going through the trash. I was so stunned-our little town does not see the homeless very often. I could not believe a human being going through the trash-like an animal. His eyes looked distant and vacaant..-an unfortunate look I have seen on the faces of the mentally ill. I ran into store and bought a sandwhich and a drink and found him and gave it to him. he was so hungry he was stuffing food in his mouth, nearly chocking. It was all I could do to not cry. men were nearby and laughing at this man. I just thought , how did we get to this point, that we can laugh at a human being who is starving? I have heard people laugh at the bums on the streets but I will never be able to get the sight of this man going through the trash for food. out of my mind. Eating like a animal.

When I got home I called the police and told them where I had seen him and they assured me if they could find him they would find him shelter.

Reports of animal abuse are all too common here Recently they fudn 150 puppies in a small house and yard. it was a puppy miill.

Oh brother Looking Glass! I thought we were going to hear something really juicy!!!
Seriously, we live and learn dont we? You will survive your ring worm.

Our landlord came down to check the water tanks and he looked terrible.
He is covered head to toe with poison oak! From their cat.
Our canyon is loaded with poison oak and the cats like to hunt out there.
    Poor guy.

This reminds me that in this heat the bacteria count can grow on our bodies. (There is always pro-biotic organisms and bad bacteria on our skin)
With all the heat we are wiping our brows and faces alot more with sweaty hands that are picking up active germs from all surfaces.

DO NOT PICK ZITS IN THIS KIND OF WEATHER!
TAKE ALL SANITARY PRECAUTIONS WITH BREAKOUTS IN HOT WEATHER.
IT CAN LEAD TO TERRIBLE INFECTIONS WITH HORRENDOUS CONSEQUENCES!

(got a story in mind of a brother who squeezed a zit and then had to have surgery from the infection!)

personally Im through with zits thank god. But for you youngins this is wise advice.

Wash your hands and bathe alot in this heat.
