    I'd respond to the letter to the editor by asking,

    • If a Jehovah's Witness is not representing the Watchtower Society and it's literature, why are they called "publishers"?
    • If a Jehovah's Witness is not part of the Watchtower Society, why is the official website named www.watchtower.org ?
    • Do the Jehovah's Witnesses peddle any other literature other than is copyrighted by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society?

    This is one area that made me wonder what was going on in "the truth."

    GB member Splaine chastised people for still using the phrase "The Society's literature." Instead, he suggested that we should call it "Our Christian literature." I also noticed that instead of saying in a footnote, "...published by the WTB&TS," it'll now say "...published by Jehovah's Witnesses."

    They are clearly trying to separate themselves from the literature in the minds of the r&f, so that to the witnessee doesn't hear any mention of this "Society." Why would the Society be trying to distance itself from the average person? Shouldn't they be proud supporters of the literature they publish? I say it's an attempt to avoid any more liability.

    "...that there is no such thing as "Watch Tower" teachings"

    If that is so, then what is it that the JWs study every Sunday?

    Right on, Danny. It is, as some have stated before, a distinction without a difference! I believe the Watchtower society [the legal and printing entities] do not wish to be labeled as attached to Jehovah's witnesses purely for legal reasons - if one claims to represent the Watchtower society and gets sued [for trespassing, or whatever] they might be named in the suit perhaps - by going on record, as in the KM mentioned above, as the two being seperate and distinct they protect themselves. Follow the money to find the reasons. Jeff

    Most Jehovah's Witnesses are not members of the Watchtower Society but they are members of a religious organ called "Jehovah's Witnesses." But Mark's error is common;

    "Mark's error is common" because the "Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses" was only formed recently, I believe within the last 10 years during some restructuring. There was no such corporation in 1984 when I was baptised.
