Are JWs now going to be like the Mormons and Clare Prophet encouraging their members to store up..............I highly doubt it. Maybe it is that letter that someone else reported on re the WTS asking for money for the COs/DOs ($8) and to donate more to the worldwide work rather than the relief fund.

Interesting point, juni. I guess its all in your motivation. If you are stocking up short term for a natural disaster, that's OK. However, if you are stocking up for the Great Tribulation, that's not OK...although, who would know. If you're stocking up for a natural disaster that turns out to be part of the Great Trib leading up to the Big A....???? Oops, guess Jebus will have to make a judgment call on that one.
Oh, and be sure not to use all of your extra money to stock up on survival supplies cuz Bethel needs your money way more than you do. With every donation to the world wide work, the GB will put in a good word for you with Jerhoobah next time they have a meeting with Him so that even if you are stockpiling stuff for the wrong reasons, He will overlook it.
Juni-I remember the same thing in the seventies. In fact my husband and I were studies and the mother of the woman we studied with went to the elders because her husband had asked her to stock up on staple items-not a JW but probably just wanted to take advantage of some sales or didn't want to have to go to the store too often. The elders were very seriously disturbed but told her she would have to follow his instructions to be a good wife even though it was against what the GB instructed, which was to rely on Jehovah and not stock up on supplies.
Today Hezbollah is saying it would be willing to accept peace, so I guess any COs who have been talking up Armageddon are going to get a let-down........... I'm chuckling.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm heading to the package store immediately. I'll stock up... papers, lighters, wine, beer and booze. Then, when the BIG T comes, I'll have plenty for the brothers and sisters.
They read this same letter on the 26th out here - we have our long meeting on Tuesday instead of Thursday.
For the first time the society says in the letter to prepare for great tribulation and to have plenty of emergency supplies in case of a disaster.
And when I asked the elders that same question years ago, they told me that Jehovah will give us all that we need in due time.....yeah sure.
Buy 00 buck, .223 and .22 rim-fire and you'll be much better off.
(Of the still have 30 cases of MRE's that the Guv gave away after the various hurricanes here class)
