    4:48 AM???

In military time, that would be expressed as 448. Thats 218 less than 666!

And coincidentily, Armageddon will come 218 sundays after the day this was uttered.

    WATCH OUT SEPTEMBER 2010!!!!!!!

Oh my god, I'm going to Sam's Club right now!

Call me sceptical, but did anyone actually hear this letter read? I saw a comment or two of those who seemed to have some sort of 2nd hand info -anyone really see the letter or hear it read personally? Or is this just a joke?

First, I agree that back in the 70's, we were told to trust in Jehovah, he would provide. They frowned on the bomb shelter mentality of the 1950's, back when we kids had to go to the basement of the school and put our faces against the wall (1955 to 1960). Yeah, like that would save you if a nuke hit the school. Now, if this letter is true, we should stock up? I live near the Space Center in Florida. We are all ready for any such emergency. It's called "hurricanes". Same supplies, same warnings, blah, blah.

I hope someone can post this letter if it is true. I'd love to see the scare tactics and how they are worded. If JW's do stock up, I guess the rest of the town knows who to go to for food. And since JW's won't fight and most don't have guns, what are they going to do about it??

I have to go. Wal-Mart has a sale on ammo and I need to buy a dozen boxes. Also a few pawn shops to visit for more "equipment" (also known as Glocks, Colts, and others. At least I can protect my freeze-dried coffee and pet food. LOL.

Yeah, I'm in this camp too. A scan of the letter or someone that can at least say they heard it personally would be handy.

I heard the letter read. There was no mention of the great tribulation. The letter references the recent hurricanes and tsunamis, and the need for congregation elders to have contact info on all publishers and emergency plan in place.

Basically the book study overseer will get home phone, cell phone, other phone, address, and contact info of nearest relative living outside the congregation's territory. This information will be compiled by PO, and all elders will receive a list...I think the CO will compile a list from all congregations. This already happens for the most part...most congregation secretaries use a software program to keep the publisher's time and contact info. The new part of this process is to gather info on the nearest relative living outside the territory.

Last year in the U.S. after Hurricane Katrina hundreds of JWs left the New Orleans area and the WTS had a hard time locating them. The WTS doesn't want this to happen again, they want to hold onto as many publishers as possible. After all they're losing enough publihsers as it is.

Again, there was no mention of great tribulation or anything like that. The WTS and local elders simply want to be able to keep track of it's human resources.

    Thanx DMP.

I suspected as much. But then the WTS will not frown if the R&F 'blow it out of proportion' will they? In fact they may be hoping for as much.

It usually doesn't take long in the gossip centers to turn a practical suggestion into 'look's like Jehovah is getting us ready for the GT'.

That appears to be the case here.

I didn't hear the letter read, but I did hear about it from a couple of sources and what I was told matches the account above. There was another thread about this, if I remember correctly, and some concluded that maybe the WTS got caught in a situation during Hurricane Katrina in not being able to reach a lot of the dubs in the affected area.

But, in all fairness to the original poster of this thread, it could be possible that whoever was assigned to read it at their local hall could have taken the occassion to add his own editorial comments. I know of some elders who have done so in the past. They would read the letter then add their own comments, sometimes going way beyond the import of the letter. A lot of elders are drama queens...gotta flaunt that position and keep the flock scared and looking to them for aid and support.

Every Jehovah's Witness member will grow old and die just like everyone else. There is no Armageddon that will annihilate 6.5 billion people, and install Watchtower leaders as world rulers. That's all you need to know.Best regards,Danny Haszard “If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously. Do not be afraid of him” (Deut. 18:22).
