Is the WTS stopping Scripture classes globally, or just Australia?

My daughters scripture teacher recently told the scripture class that in NSW, Australia there will be no more scripture classes. The reason was that it was too hard to find teachers. A couple of weeks later a letter was read in the congregations to that affect, and saying that it is a parents responsibility to spiritually raise a child.

I called the Department of Education and they said the Watchtower Society is still registered and so allowed to provide scripture teachers. There is no training required, no certificates and no cost to the Society. I find it difficult to understand the Watchtower reasoning. Of all religions JWs should have the easiest time finding teachers, as pioneers generally look for any excuse to get out of going door to door.

It is a shocking indication of the WTS total disregard for the needs of children. They provide no Sunday school, no youth camps, protect pedophiles, and now can't even be bothered organizing scripture classes. My daughter is a classic example of why they should. I am "apostate" and my wife virtually totally inactive now, so scripture is one of the main opportunities they had to indoctrinate her.

What is going on? Is this happening in any other countries?

In the US, scripture classes are frowned upon in secular schools...separation of church and state. Some schools allow extracurricular (after-school) Bible classes but there is usually controversy over it.

Guess the income was a lot less than the expenses...

And here in Canada, the Bethel flunky told the gathered district that JW youth showing up for Bethel service display a shocking ignorance of the bible, and encouraged the parents to buckle down.

The wts, as far as I know, has never run scripture classes in the uk, certainly not while I was involved anyway. There are quite a few single - faith schools here, like C of E, Catholic, Muslim, Sikh etc, but most other schools have non - denominational religious instruction.

jw's don't use the scriptures. They have the WATCHTOWER instead of Scripture.

That's why they can't organize scripture classes.

Good point Honesty. Anyway, my daughter never liked them, it was too embarrasing for her being the daughter with the apostate father. Now she gets to chill out in the library with all the other Nigels.

I didn't realise that they have not been running scripture classes in many countries around the world. For a Religion claims to be the only group that 'preach' they certainly dont put any effort into most options available to them.

Rutherford taught Sunday school class in prison, of course you might say he had a captive audience.
I'm actually not really sure how that applies to the topic. I have fact attacks.

I don't think "scripture classes" have ever been held in South Australia.

I agree, they should do more but their heart isn't big enough. They talk about caring and concern for others yet their actions betray their words as false.

Don't make the same mistake the WTS is making...teach her yourselves.

Suggestion...Read the bible together and have an open, intellectualy honest discussion about it, use differant versions. Dissect it, express your opinions, what do you think is right or wrong about what you read? IMO
