I don't believe that witnesses know what the definition of a Christian really is....

Say Jesus to many times and they get defensive.
What is the ONLY name by which we can be saved? The Bible says Jesus. No matter how much we say "Jehovah", God has told us that it is only by Jesus we can be saved. It's his approved method. No respect for the father if we do not accept the son. JWs can't even see that they do this. They 'put Jesus in his place' as I heard from a JW once.

Since this is an old topic I don't know if anyone will respond... but didn't they have awhole book dedicated to Jesus, that they studied at the bookstudy? It was called the Greatest man whoever lived. Did everyone just forget that?

The "Greatest Man " book seems to have been buried, (Unlike the "Climax" book)

Too many people started talking about Jesus, and discussing finer points where the WT did not make sense in the Pubications, as contrasted with the scriptures which we were encouraged to read before the study.

I know a number of people who became born again christians after studying it.

Are "newly intersted ones" given a copy of that book? Is it even still available. ONce the writing committee changes, books the new one doesn't like die ("Commentary on James" "Choosing the best Way of Life" "Aid" book etc.)

Incidentally the Jesus Book was published in the 80s AFTER the Climax book, yet it has not been studied as often.

I am talking about the borg as it is today under the dictatorship police state family dividing cult period.

How often is Jesus mentioned NOWADAYS in the average meeting?

I shall be doing it at each meeting I go to. Dare you do that?

I agree with Kate and Drew,

If the Witnesses really knew Jesus, they would not be enslaved to an organization. Like someone else said - there is freedom in Christ. For those of us who have found this, we should pray that all the rest of the WT captives be released some day. Lilly

They also made quite a few mistakes in that book. I inderlined the mistakes and showed them to the poor unsuspecting JW lady who had brought it by. But Hammy's right, the book even though it had many mistakes got people to talking way too much about Jesus.

Right on Lill. If the rank and file JW could chance the experience of a close personal relationship with Jesus, they would soon learn of the freedom that comes. THEN who's gonna buy all those magazines?

As far as Jesus being dead; all those that seen Him raise in the flesh were so sure of what they had seen they turned the world upside down. Today we have hospitals, clinics, food banks, homeless shelters, orphanages, schools, refugee camps, etc all in His honor.

BTW - the Greatest man who ever lived book was always my favorite. I read it before I got baptized and again several times after that. It is the ONLY book I kept when I left the WT. I threw all the others out the second floor window - it was so liberating!! Lil
