I am glad though that so many good people came to your aide. Its not good when we go thru something traumatic like that but it is always good to see people working together and the good side of humanity, isn't it?

As I was typing that I realized just how much the WTS says there are no good people. According the the WTS stopping to help a DFed one would be wrong - they go back and forth on that one. But no one asked me what my religion was or what standing I had. They just came to help. I know the guy on the bench cma from but the other two fellows - I have no idea - well one from the car that stopped

Sorry, but that kind of made me laugh...

It was supposed to make you laugh. I have gotten through many things in life because I was able to find some humor in most things that happen.

We have a system here for people on welfare or on disability that the nurse can call to help us get a taxi home. Some people have misused it so now they insist that the nurse makes the call

Even the taxi driver was nice. Usually they just drop you at the door. He helped me inside - took my bags in and actually sat in the car and waited until he saw someone come to help me.

We have shopping carts in the building to help people take their groceries up to their apt. I used one of them like a walker to get me upstairs.

I think they will see if they can fix it but if they can't I'll probably get a new chair. They did say something about a loaner which is what they did before I got this chair.

Gad I'm glad it wasn't a car!!! Or that I fell onto the left and the grass rather than to the right and onto the oncoming traffic

    How frightening!!

I'm glad to hear that you are (reasonably) OK and that people were kind to you.

For those that were not able to give you a lift home, I wonder if it was because of liability concerns...? Still a shame, either way.

Ice seems to help reduce the black and blue and swelling.

    Feel better

    Hi LL,

Glad you came out of it ok - but it sucks about your chair. Hopefully you can get it fixed or replaced pronto.

Hi Lady Lee.. sorry to hear about your wheelchair malfunction. Im happy that everything turned out well for you and you are ok. Your story also proves that there are lots of caring and helpful "worldly" people out there.

Glad that you are o.k.!!! I hope you don't have the same thing happen with the new chair....maybe you should ask for more safety info on that particular model. Once, a few years ago when I had to use a wheel chair...I got the bright idea that my dog could pull me. It would be great exercise for him and I wouldn't have to get someone to walk him. He weighed about 95 lbs. so that shouldn't have been a problem, right? WRONG!!! He took off running as soon as I had him tied to the chair and was pulling me down the sidewalk at breakneck speeds and then I hit a bump and flew out of the chair onto the grass. Luckily, I wasn't hurt either...but of course all the neighbors were out watching and got a really good laugh!!!

Hope you're not too sore over the next few days....

Oh Lee that's just terrible! I wish you a speedy recovery from your bumps and bruises, ugg your foot gosh darn it why is it always the bum part of you that gets hurt again. I know it happens to me all the time.

They better get you a chair replacement pronto too, that tire shouldn't have fallen off like that must be something defective I would really look into that.

Hugs and take care of yourself !

I know in downtown Montreal there was a fellpw with a wheelchair and his dog would race on the side of the road. I was always surprised he didn't fall or get knocked over by a car.

Why is it that hospitals never think the people in Emergency and waiting for hours on end never need a drink or a bite to eat. I understand those who might be having surgery eating isn't a good idea but I got there at 3:15 and left just past 9:00. Sure was glad I had some leftovers in the fridge that I could just zap

Well I'm off to get to bed.

Boy am I ever glad this apt is accessible and that the manual chair fits through all the doors. I never use the chair in the house but I sure am glad I have it now

Nite all and thanks for all the thoughts
