One of the fundamental motivating factors in humans is the desire to feel important. That is what the WTS gives people.
- Part of Gawd's Organization on earth
- Having "special" knowledge that 99.999% of the world does not know about
- Having knowledge that the world is about to end in a apocalypse
- Having special privileges that few have. (i.e.: Raising your hand to give predefined answers, giving talks that 99.999% of the world doesn't give a rat's ass about, going door-to-door to annoy people at their homes, etc...)

Carrots only attract prey animals like rabbits, or beasts of burden like an ass or a donkey.
So I suppose these are the kinds of personality the WTBTS draws to it. And the carrot is in the end of a stick so they just keep trying and trying.
