    DannyBear,

I do not "disdain" killing, i.e. refuse or reject it with aloof contempt or scorn. I do respect life, so I hope that there will be as little killing as possible.

    Comf,

I guess we just read each other wrong, friend. Nobody has to go to a gym, or take a pill, just didn't get where you were coming from.

I guess you didn't see me coming either.

No problem...all this banter is just that banter, as compared to what is going on outside. Eh?

In response to MrMoe's generous offer of moving this to the adult forum, I have done just that...I have started a new thread there and I hope you all join me there.

    Are we having fun yet?

    Naeblis,

Everyone else in this thread seems to have either wandered off to bed or to the adult forum.

Would you care to dance in the pale moonlight? I have some Beanie Babies on the grill. Or perhaps I can just watch you work in your usual attire, eh?

    My name is Ginny.

    Wasasister,

Your post did seem to have a general tone of judgement to it: I've watched you puny mortals for a few days now, and am prepared to render judgement thusly: [Note: obviously I'm not quoting you. I'm OBVIOUSLY exaggerating your expressions to make my point]

I'm not criticizing or judging you, but you and Danny don't seem to be connecting on this one, so I'm trying to let you know that others got the same tone from your post as he did. Obviously many did NOT get a judgemental tone from your post, and agree with it 100%.

This is a time of incredible hurt for many many people. Many are going to want and NEED to vent! I don't recall who mentioned turning Afghanistan into a parking lot, but I'll bet that if you put their finger on the "button" they wouldn't really push it. They were very hurt and angry and spoke in anger.

You offered "hugs" to the ones preaching restraint, but you basically gave up on the angry ones, saying they'd already lost the war, or needed mental help. Where were the hugs for these hurting ones? Do you REALLY think they'd indiscriminately shoot total strangers on the street? Or rush out today and intentionally drop bombs on civilians out of pure anger and revenge?

You said that at times like this, our true natures come out. I disagree. I think that at times like this, our EXTREME natures come out. I think, and this is what Danny was trying to say, that a little restraint--both in foreign policy and in how we treat each other--is due right now. We don't set foreign policy, but we can try to be a LITTLE more understanding of each other.

Please, everyone, let's not be so quick to brand the angry ones as mentally instable warmongers, and the peaceable ones as weak-kneed wussies. Let's give ourselves a few more days to heal before we have 100-post threads about semantic differences, and whether people meant to quote the Bible on something.

all this banter is just that banter, as compared to what is going on outside. Eh?

Yes. I don't want people... our people here, especially, who should know better... to become part of what's going on outside. You know what's going on outside, Danny? Brown-skinned Americans who wear head coverings, veils and little ornaments between their eyes, are huddling together in fear. Fear of being beaten, being mobbed, being killed for their looks and their speech.

And with good reason. There is no honorable purpose driving the cry for blood that is rising from this land. It's adrenalin-fueled, and the adrenalin is surging because of fear. How do you kill an enemy you can't see, who strikes at you suddenly from invisibility?

I don't know; thank goodness, it isn't my job to know. I am confident that there are people here who do this stuff for a living, and they know and will act with knowledge. For myself: I know what NOT to do--attack innocent people; nuke entire countries. Behave with just as selfish a motive and as calloused an indifference to innocent parties as my enemies have.

They kill my people, my neighbors. They destroy my government and my culture. But they will not rob me of my dignity, nor of my self-control. Fear and threat will not turn me into a violent, ranting madman abandoning my own carefully chosen standards for living.

There may well come a time for me, personally, to kill. I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't come to that, in the years ahead. I'm ready. I can kill. I can kill calmly, carefully, without second thoughts. I can take my time. I can aim for the heart; for the eyes. I can wait for my enemy.

I don't have to kill my neighbor.

    Well then Farkel,

Perhaps you should change your quote to:

    "When in doubt, fuck"

Sorry, Danny, I just couldn't resist

Hi Wasa, I enjoyed your post. I haven't been around much the last few days as Venice has taken over my computer.[>:(]

I have read alot of the hatred, and it's helped me to stay away. The comments made relating to your post surprised me. They took offence just like the dubs always do.

    Princess,

You know you just gave the greatest insult to people here by comparing them to dubs. Is that a sign of your hatred for those who see the world differently than you do? Let me ask you. Is it wrong to hate terrorists who killed thousands of people? I think not.

Perhaps serial killers had bad childhoods, and therefore, we should hug them. Perhaps, the NeoNazis in our country were raised to hate blacks and want to kill them. Maybe a great big loving hug would make them better. I don't think so. When people threaten the fabric of our society, they have to be dealt with. They are a societal cancer, and they have to be surgicaly removed, and hopefully not too much of the surrounding tissue will be damaged.
